Ben Affleck has been through a lot in the last year, with his multiple successes in his film career both as an actor and director.  He has also made headlines over the failure of his marriage with ex-wife, Jennifer Garner and the surrounding rumors of his alleged affair with their former nanny.

The tumultuous course of events and the eventual breakdown of his marriage may have proven to be quite overwhelming. Affleck recently got himself a huge colorful tattoo that took over most of the space on his back.

The tattoo, which depicts a phoenix rising from the ashes, has gotten more nays than yays, and two of his exes are no exception.

Jennifer Lopez, whom Ben Affleck dated in 2002, appeared on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live on Monday and participated in Andy Cohen’s “Plead the Fifth” segment.

When asked about her opinion on Affleck’s back tattoo, Lopez immediately said “It’s awful! His tattoos always have too many colors, they shouldn’t be so colorful. They should be cooler.”

Affleck’s ex-wife Jennifer also had a recent interview with Vanity Fair magazine, in which she reveals how she fell in love with Ben Affleck and how the marriage fell apart. Another bit that stood out from the interview was her comments on her ex-husband’s back ink.

“You know what we would say in my hometown about that? ‘Bless his heart,’” said the 43-year-old actress.

“A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario?” she continued. “I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes.”

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were married for 10 years before ending up in a very public divorce last year. Rumors of cheating circulated, alleging that Affleck had an affair with their children’s former nanny, Christine Ouzounian. Affleck has denied the rumors, and now, Garner is doing the same.

“We had been separated for months before I ever heard about the nanny,” said Garner. “She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not a part of the equation. Bad judgment? Yes.”
