What’s on the menu at Apple’s Elk Grove campus?

Pizza. And not just any pizza – but authentic Neapolitan style pizza made by a pizza expert.

But in order to serve that cheesy, saucy, delicious delicacy (getting hungry…), Apple needs to hire a new pizza cook. That means that Neapolitan pizza is a new addition to the culinary rotation in Elk Grove, or the previous pizza cook left on his accord or Apple’s.

Either way, Apple’s Jobs page has a listing for a pizza cook needed in Sacramento. Here’s the full description – note Apple’s unsurprising specificity when it comes to the prerequisites:

The ideal candidate has extensive experience making pizza dough from scratch and is able to portion and toss the dough; possesses the ability to hand stretch the pizza (without using a rolling pin) and cook the pizza to order in a high temperature oven. The cook will also prep and maintain all food items necessary to make a variety of pizzas (toppings, sauces and related prep).

At least 2-4 years of experience working a high volume wood burning pizza oven featuring thin crust, Neapolitan style pizza.

You gotta love Apple’s insistance on the fact that their new pizza cook shy away from rolling pins. Most pizza makers would tell you that rolling pins are BS anyway, but Apple has a reason for this attention to detail.

True Neapolitan style pizza requires a real hands-on approach. True Neapolitan pizza (according to some rules) requires the dough be kneaded by hand and then formed by hand – sans rolling pin. There are even rules about the type of oven that can be used to cook the pizza – a wood-burning one. As you can see, Apple has that covered as well.

Apple is notoriously secretive about its Elk Grove campus, so it’s nice to know that at least the employees who work there will be eating some authentic, tasty pies.
