Anna Duggar received an endorsement of sorts this week–for divorcing Josh Duggar–by another prominent Christian TV family. Jase and Missy Robertson of Duck Dynasty fame spoke to Entertainment Tonight about forgiveness, and they feel she has to forgive him–but she doesn’t have to go on being his wife.

“I think forgiving and forgetting are two different things,” Missy Robertson says.

Anna Duggar learned in a very public way this past summer that Josh Duggar–her husband of nearly six years, with whom she has four children–cheated on her.

Josh Duggar was outed in the Ashley Madison website hack. It was determined the former 19 Kids and Counting star had not just one, but two accounts on the cheater’s site.

Shortly thereafter, Josh Duggar admitted to having an addiction to pornography–and to cheating on Anna Duggar. Anna was pregnant with their fourth child at the time.

“As far as the relationship, that’s gotta be her decision whether or not she wants to go on without him,” Missy Robertson says. “She certainly has that right, because he interrupted their marriage with those affairs, but forgiveness is not really a choice, you know, if you want forgiveness from God.”

“You can forgive somebody, but that doesn’t mean there’s not consequences for your actions,” Jase Robertson adds.

“It’s gonna be hard to stand in front of Jesus on judgment day and say, ‘I expect forgiveness, but I’m not gonna forgive,'” Missy explains. “And God teaches against that. He says, ‘You must forgive.’ and it’s not easy.”

Anna Duggar has reportedly packed up her four children and left the home they shared with Josh Duggar in Arkansas to stay with her parents in Florida. Her siblings are reportedly urging her to divorce Josh Duggar.

Sources speculate if Anna Duggar remains in Florida, she might be swayed to end her marriage. Back home in Arkansas, she has the 19 Kids and Counting family members–including in-laws Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar–who believe forgiving Josh and going on with her marriage is her only choice.

“She’s definitely a victim in this whole situation,” Missy says, “and, yes, [Josh] made some wrong decisions. But that’s something that, at the end of the day, when the cameras go away, that’s their life. They’re going to have to deal with it themselves and get past it and try to savor some of the experiences they had and memories, and also make a new life for themselves–whether it’s together or apart.”

The Duck Dynasty family is known for their devout Christianity as much as they are known for their famous duck calls. The 19 Kids and Counting family is known for their strong Christian faith–and in having droves of children.

While there are definitely some facets of the two families’ beliefs, one constant remains the same–forgiveness.

Do you think Anna Duggar realizes it’s possible to forgive Josh Duggar for cheating on her, but to end her marriage anyway?

Hopefully Anna Duggar gets wind of these wise words from the Duck Dynasty family members.
