A Reddit user named Diabolikal49 has posted a gallery of x-ray images depicting the internal mechanisms of a variety of video game controllers. It’s a fun demonstration that underneath the sleek plastic molded to fit human hands lurks circuit boards and screws. Have a look at the photos, which were posted at imgur, in the gallery below:

Diabolikal49 posted a short explanation for the photos in the Reddit gaming subreddit thread, saying:

I’m a software engineer doing some testing at the moment. Last week, someone submitted an X-Ray film of an xbox controller and after seeing some requests for higher resolution pictures in the comments section, I thought that I would oblige.

PS3, Wii(Motion+), Xbox(MadCatz) and Gamecube controllers, in that order.

The X-Ray gun was set to approximately 145kV(and 60uA) for those who care.

These pics are really neat, and a lot more fun than seeing the inside of your Wii remote after you’ve thrown it into the wall and busted it open. Diabolikal49 also mentioned that he might post similar pictures of a Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GBA, DS, and 3DS sometime next week. That would be a very interesting progression of technology to see.

What do you think? Are there any other controllers you want to see an x-ray of? Leave a comment below and let us know.
