A new ad from Water Is Life, an organization dedicated to getting fresh water to underprivileged countries, is getting some attention for its heartbreaking premise.

They say that 1 in 5 children in Africa won’t reach the age of five because of the lack of safe drinking water, something the organization is desperately trying to change. The ad takes us on a journey with 4-year old Kenyan Nkaitole as he completes his bucket list, which includes flying on an airplane, riding on a boat, and playing soccer in the national stadium. If it seems like a bit much, that’s because Water Is Life wants to grab the viewer’s attention and bring to light just how deadly the situation is for these children.

Watch the ad below and try not to cry.

  • Hmmm…..

I don’t think people realize how important the issue of providing water is. The CEO of Nestle stated that water is not a human right. There are actually people out there that believe that kind of nonsense. Google it and see. There are very few things that truly surprise me, but that statement did.

That is beyond sad. No 5 year old should even have to think about a “bucket list.” I mean, I can sort of understand wanting to help a child experience everything they can because of a terminal disease or something. But for a child to have a bucket list because of a lack of clean drinking water, is just tragic. A preventable tragedy. There is no reason in this day and age that anyone should be dying from lack of clean water. I just don’t understand, and it breaks my heart.
