Lindsey Vonn has entered a Vail hospital to undergo testing for what she describes as “severe intestinal pain”, worrying her coaches and the racing directors for the upcoming Aspen slalom.

“There’s been no news, so we’re kind of worried,” Head racing director Rainer Salzgeber said. “It’s not good.”

While Vonn has been complaining of the pain for two weeks, it is not believed to be ski-related. She’s been trying to get extra training in before the next event, but her ski technician says she’s been out due to illness since late October.

“She told me she feels bad and has pain all over her body and that her bones are hurting. … She’s been (to the hospital) two or three times. This is the first time she’s stayed overnight,” Heinz Haemmerle said. “The coaches also don’t know. First they told me we would train again Monday, then Wednesday, now the end of the week.”

Vonn’s spokesman, Lewis Kay, said they will give an update as soon as one is available, but for now it’s unclear whether she will be able to participate in next week’s slalom and giant slalom in Aspen and the women’s events in Lake Louise, which in the past has proven to be a key battleground for Vonn.
