U.S. consumer spending  on daily deal sites like Groupon and LivingSocial is on track to grow from $873 million in 2010 to $3.9 billion in 2015, representing a 35 percent growth rate, according to a new report from BIA/Kelsey.

Examiner.com announced it’s offering discounts provided by LivingSocial in 130 markets – that’s all the markets LivingSocial is currently active in. 

Deals are accessible through a mix of feeds and local media placements. LivingSocial will also be the headlining daily deal company in Examiner.com’s upcoming "Insider Deal" marketplace, an online discount center.

A single high-profile deal has done wonders for LivingSocial’s popularity, according to a new Hitwise report.  The site, which trailed Groupon in terms of visits by a huge margin, closed the gap by a significant amount after offering $20 Amazon gift certificates for $10 last week.

When turned down for a job or a date, the average person doesn’t give up on either the idea of employment or a relationship.  He or she just tries again, perhaps with lower standards.  And similarly, after being rejected by Groupon, Google’s now supposed to be on the hunt again, looking to acquire another company in the same space.

Update:  Groupon has reportedly rejected Google’s offer.
