Yesterday, Twitter released a number of top ten lists for trends in 2010. They showed off the top trends of the year in general, as well as the top in tech, news, movies, people, TV, and hashtags. Today, the company has released a list of what it has deemed as the top ten most powerful tweets of the year

Twitter launched its year-end top trends list today. The top overall trends for 2010 were as follows:

1. Gulf Oil Spill
2. FIFA World Cup
3. Inception
4. Haiti Earthquake
5. Vuvuzela
6. Apple iPad
7. Google Android
8. Justin Bieber
9. Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows
10. Pulpo Paul

Twitter also broke down the top trends for several categories. The top trends for news events were:

It’s now December, and in the search industry, that means it’s the time of the year that we get to look at the most searched things of the year. Bing shared its top ten searches the other day. Ask recently retired from true search, in order to focus on the niche its name suggests – questions and answers.

It’s getting to be that time of year. December is just around the corner then a new year will sneak up on us quickly. Bing sent us its lists of top searches and top people searches for the year 2010. 

A Look Back at SXSW 2010

As usual, this year’s South by Southwest Interactive conference was a blur. Between the people, the parties, and purveyors of all things bacon, it was a twenty ring circus of the sublime and bizarre.

There was no shatteringly impactful takeaway from SXSW 2010, as it seems we’ve entered a (sure to be brief) innovation lull. But, I absorbed many smaller lessons that will help guide my thinking about the conference, technology, and social business in the coming months.

Census Bureau Launches New Website For 2010

The U.S. Census Bureau has launched a new website as part of its effort to communicate with Americans about the 2010 census.

The website called 2010CENSUS.GOV features an animated marquee that allows users to click on images representative of the population and view video clips aimed at easing fears about the census and encourage participation.

"2010CENSUS.GOV puts the census in the hands of the public," said U.S. Census Bureau Director Robert M. Groves.
