The “Why Pay More” value menu for Taco Bell could be seeing the exit soon, if the fast food company decides to take their “$1 Cravings Menu” beyond the testing stage and into Taco Bells across the country. The new menu is currently being tested in Kansas City and Sacramento, with the results potentially leading to a nationwide change.

The menu looks to cover most of the major Taco Bell food groups – burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and sweets. One distinct change to keep in mind is that the Cravings Menu would replace the tiered value menu that saw some items at $0.79, $0.89, and $1. Below is a promo image of the potential menu change.

Rob Poetsch, a spokesman for Taco Bell, said this of the impending change, “At Taco Bell, our value menu is our entire menu. So when consumers are looking for what they get for what they pay – whether it be Fresh Mex with our Cantina Bell Menu, signature beverages or snacks with our Happier Hour Menu, or a dollar menu with our $1 Cravings Menu – Taco Bell can’t be beat”

There is very little chicken in those options and I tend to stay away from red meat. Very disappointing, Taco Bell!

    • Enrique

Don’t worry, it’s not real meat.

    • Tricki

Then get the chicken burrito that is on the Meal Deal. best deal on the menu. $2 for a chicken burrito, chips, and soda…

      • Shedbasher

Not $2 in my location $2.49 for all meal deals

    • Carl

      Do you need meat?

  • JImmy

sweet lord jesus don’t lose the potatoes! and add the chives back to them!

  • tiedyeemtf

cheesy rice and bean burrito has always been a winner and the potato burrito has been a loser…..potato burrito would be better if they added lettuce…tomatoes, black olives, ,cheddar, sour cream, guacomole, and border sauce……no consultent fees…no suit and ties in some expensive hotel room talking about this shit…just some good advice…now move your asses and follow my free advice…like a famous wwe wrestler says…”feed me more..feed me more”…

  • pat

if it aint broke, dont fix it.WHY change something that works???

  • Lisa Lisa

So they upgraded their $.79-.99 tacos/burritos and added in a few newbies. Still won’t be going there for the dollar Menu unless they come up with a grilled onion & swiss burger for $1.

    • Carl

Why would they add a burger? Their name is TACO Bell not Burger Bell.

  • stewart

i stayed in carson los angeles when i went for a walk theres was taco bells everywhere! never went in one thou and it was a joke with my american friends.
ps if you come to the uk you get nothing much for 1 dollar! cheapest

  • Ambrosia

I live in Seattle and haven’t seen ANY $1 items at Taco Bell. Period.

    • Tricki

This is a test market. Says so in the article. Read it all first!

If you must know, the zesty chicken bowl was the ONLY thing I really craved. If I had a bad craving, it would be for the zesty chicken bowl. Why did you stop making this, dumb move! As soon as it went away and off the menu, I just crossed the street to Taco Time!

    • MultiTaulented

Hey, if there is a Moe’s Southwest Grill near you, try their bowl. it’s delicious!

  • Marie

Our local taco bell has none of the .79 .89 and 1.00 – nothing costs less than 1.40. When asked about the new 1.00 menu they said theirs would be the 1.40 menu. To even see the lower prices you have to drive to a Taco Bell over 60 miles away. Wish all were the same on prices.

    • Tricki

Move out of Cali or NYC then. LOL

    • Lori

I think you can report them to Taco Bell headquarters. If the restaurant is in the US you have to follow their pricing since it is a franchise.

    • Tricki

Oh and this is a test market. Read the article. Kansas and Sacramento. If you don’t live there then you won’t see these prices unless the sales are awesome in those markets…

  • Dan

I ate at Taco Bell about once a week about 6 months ago. I’d get a handful of dollar burritos to enjoy on my drunken weekend night (picked them up before I started drinking lol). The last time I went to TB was when I realized my normal order cost like 4 bucks extra because they suddenly increased the prices of the $1 menu to $1.40 menu. 40% increase on my meal price? Go FYS TB.

  • Dan

Marie! I just saw your post. You must certainly live near me lol. Not down to pay nearly half as much MORE for food that will give you the sh*** the next day lol. But I must admit I miss having an extra option for my bad meals.

  • anthony

$1.19 5 layer beefy burrito here best bargain but then I only need 1 to keep my still fat but shrinking belly happy from lunch to dinner. But how about a little more nutritional info I heard would be posted at all fast food restaurants a few years ago. Still I don’t need anyone to tell me I still shouldn’t live on this stuff. Still makes a good meal when I don’t have the time to look for something better.

    • Tricki

I do the deal number one. Chicken burrito is the bomb with extra guac/ranch sauce… 2.50 with tax and I am set!

  • Sarah Vogel

We are so excited to see this new menu….this is our favorite place to go to get an affordable and consistently yummy meal….now there will be even more to choose from!! Thank you, Taco Bell!!! Can’t wait for it to come to Hastings, Nebraska, the best place to live in the U.S.A.!!!!

  • Robbie from Texas

I hope Taco Bell simplifies their menu. It is so complicated to read when you are in the drive thru line.

  • Dr. Taylor

Saturated fats, saturated fats and lots of LDL (bad cholesterol), oh and let’s let forget the piles and piles of salt (sodium) what is mostly responsible for sky-rocketing blood pressure levels. Great going America…. keep creating more foods that cause heart attacks, strokes, cancer and who knows what else.
P.S. I’m a 22 year old African-American Biology major. STAY AWAY FROM ALL OF THIS INDUSTRY JUNK!

    • Dr. Taylor

      Sorry I meant, “let’s NOT forget…”

    • Dr. Funke

      Yeah okay we know jeez.

    • GEJJR

No future Doctor, increased fat and sodium levels in fast food is not the problem. People’s lack of self-control and/or lack of willingness to practice moderation, drink enough water and get some exercise is the problem.

With individual freedom and liberty comes personal responsibility, let’s not go blaming the fast food joints for people’s health issues. If ya got rid of every fast food joint on earth, people would either cook unhealthy food at home, or eat it in larger quantities (and pay too much for it) at a regular restaurant.

  • Dr. Taylor

Wow, I know I was typing too fast… I spelled surgeon incorrectly as well.

All caps hurt my head. I don’t know if you realize it, but all caps makes messages hard to read and many people just skip over it. Not a good way to get yourself ‘heard’.

  • http://nationalshowtickets.com Debbie

You know it is getting tough for the fast food restaurants when they are all competing for $1 menu items, but how long can this go on? And by the way how many vitamins and nutrients can they put in that dollar taco?

    • GEJJR

Do you really think anyone who eats at Taco Bell is that concerned about the nutrients in the food????
You want nutritious food? Don’t go to fast food joints.
You want a greasy, salty, unhealthy (but delicious) snack/meal, get some fast food. If you’re that concerned about your health, eat junk in moderation, take a Multi-vitamin with your junk food (fats aid in vitamin absorption), and exercise more.

It’s really all just common sense

  • http://www.bing.com scott

    del taco is better

  • ML White

They need to add a drink to that menu. Makes sense to add a medium drink since you can get one with the $2 meals.

  • Cassie

Well I usually get 2 CrunchWrap Supreme thats only 6.00..unless you are trying to go all out and get the combo..which dont prefer

  • http://FaceBook TatorKat

I won’t eat anything but the big burrito with meat, potatoes, cheese, and sour cream! The rest make me have no need for ExLax. LMAO! :-D
