  • If Susan Sarandon has her way, weed would be legal in every state.

One of the most outspoken proponents of marijuana, Sarandon believes that marijuana will soon be universally accepted and “will cause a very interesting tipping point.”

Or at the very least, make the world a better place to live in.

“People don’t get mean on weed, don’t beat up their wives on weed, and don’t drive crazy on weed,” the actress explained. “They just get hungry, don’t go out of the house, or laugh a lot.”

But those aren’t the only reasons why the Stepmom star supports weed and prefers it to drinking.

“It’s an important source of income… You also see the reports on kids who have seizures that are prevented by medical marijuana. You see the relief it gives to vets,” Sarandon says. “It’s also a lovely way to socialize and be with people — and to be with yourself and de-stress.”

And for a woman as busy as Sarandon, knowing how to relax and make the most of her weekend is crucial for her.

But that’s not to say that Sarandon just wants people to go around getting high.

“It needs to be treated as a controlled substance in that you don’t give it to kids, and you don’t drive,” she admonished.

She clarified this further in an interview with The Daily Beast and explained that her stand on marijuana is more “don’t be stoned if you have to pretend you’re not.”

In her case, it means weed is off the table when she has to take care of her kids or she has to work.

The 68-year-old actress also admits that she has always been honest and open with her children about drugs.

In a separate interview, the Dead Man Walking actress admits that she has told her children that “some drugs can kill you. Some are not even worth trying. Some are a lot of fun, so talk to me first.”
