If this isn’t considered the most important video gaming discovery of the week, if not the year, I don’t know what is. I mean, how many times do you get to say “Dancing Slave Leia” in relation to video games? Sure, knockoffs are at every convention this side of the Maw Cluster, but still, never has the possibilities of a dancing Slave Leia been explored so masterfully.

As pointed out by Neatorama, what we have is footage of the upcoming Star Wars Kinect game for the Xbox 360. As with most movement-based video games, there’s a touch of DDR programmed in, and the stages where players have to dance as Star Wars characters, one of the available personas is the legendary Slave Leia. I mean, this is perhaps every geek’s wet dream come to life, albeit courtesy of a high polygon count. But still, unless you’re going to every “con” on the calendar, how many times do you get to see an honest-to-goodness Slave Leia dance? As a reminder, this is who we’re talking about:

Slave Leia

Essentially, that’s the character that launched a million boyhood fantasies in the mid 80s. However, the impression Carrie Fisher’s metal bikini left was so strong, a simple GIS for the “Slave Leia” keyphrase reveals the character’s popularity has crossed over multiple generations.

And now, we can watch her, or, well, at least her Xbox avatar, dance. That sounds like progress to me.
