SOPA and PIPA Are Bad For YOU – The Simple Reason Why

Clay Shirky is an author and an adjunct professor in New York University’s graduate Interactive Telecommunications Program, where he teaches a course named “Social Weather.” Clay Shirky understands the Stop Internet Piracy Act and the Protect IP Act. He understands that all this is in no way new, but a continuation of decades-old arguments that have been raging ever since my mom bought me a cassette recorder. And, he understands that all of this is far simpler than some would have you believe.

Shirky gave a TED talk that explains why this all matters very much to you. You should watch this. And you should tell a friend to watch it. And, you should tell your Congressional Representative to watch it. Because, I can assure you, most of them do not know what you will know after you see it.

So SOPA and PIPA could damage the jobs in the US instead of saving them.

  2. Thank you for Clay Shirky’s good talk. Very helpful. As a fine artist, the issue is close to me and this video helped me to understand it. I am not the rebellious type but we degenerate as a species biologically when improperly tampered with, intellectually. SOPA and PIPA are NOT OK unless they revise seriously.

It will ALWAYS BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CITIZEN TO PREVENT SUCH DESTRUCTIVE PROPOSALS FROM BECOMING LAW. I have already signed petitions against SOPA and PIPA .

Since my focus is fine art and not IT , I had to go and look up the meanings of the acronyms before I signed, but today, Clay Shirky did not use more than one or two…thank you for that, too! :-D
