On May 23, the Modern Family star took to the social media platform WhoSay with a statement about their big split. She revealed that they'd decided to end their engagement due to a number of issues including conflicting schedules.
"Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart," she wrote on WhoSay.
"We have been having too many problems with having to figure out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse, not fun anymore. We are still very close but we believe this is the best thing for us right now."

Rumors about the couple's breakup began circulating back in 2012 just months before Loeb proposed. A number of media outlets alleged that the couple had begun facing a number of obstacles due to Vergara's fame. However, those rumors were defused with the news of Loeb's proposal.
Vergara and Loeb were engaged two out of the four years they were together. The 38-year-old Loeb, Rhoades & Co. co-founder proposed to Vergara in July of 2012 for her 40th birthday. The brunette bombshell spoke fondly about the romantic proposal during an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine back in June of 2013.
"When he proposed, it was my birthday, and I'd flown more than 100 family and friends to Mexico for six days of partying. It took me forever to arrange the logistics!" Vergara said. "If I had known I was going to get engaged, I don't do this stupid birthday."
