Seriously? This is a kids program!! Why does everyone have to keep pushing an agenda?

I think the creators of Sesame Street need to wake up to the fact that we’re not living in the 60′s anymore, and “Gay” doesn’t mean “Happy” even if the dictionary says it still does. So they need to give Bert his own room, and Ernie his own room. Who lives in a 1 bedroom apartment with a “friend” anymore? Hey, just because you live with a friend of the same sex doesn’t make you gay, but when you sleep in the same room and take bath’s together, you have to admit it does seem like Bert & Ernie are in the closet.

I am all for gay rights, but I don’t think that Bert and Ernie are gay. They’re friends. It’s possible to have a friend without wanting to have sex with them.

you agree or disagree! get off the fence

  3. Do children of the age of Bert and Ernie’s audience really understand sexuality and gender preference?

  4. Natasha

It’s a children show really the platform for discussion on sexuality and sexual orientation? I think not, let’s stick to abc and 123 please.

Exactly, I’m sick and tired of today’s society always trying to push their agenda, even on something that is as innocent as a kids show.

  5. I think this is ridiculous. Wanting two muppets who are basically children to get married just to teach tolerance is wrong. That’s the parents’ job.

The GLBTQ Community is trying to change the public image of something being “wrong” with them and their equality.. The idea behind having this information available to kids is because far too many adults teach them that ‘other’ people are not ok. We aren’t at all trying to present any stereotypical “sexualized” ideas, but that any 2 people who love each other should be able to get married. Kids in their innocence would agree with this & be happy that B/E were allowed. They might question why this wouldn’t be, and it would be up to their role models to present it properly, which will take some change of thinking & even laws (our goal). Beyond this, kids would never put any ‘perverted’ or even romanticized spin on it unless their models do. We’re trying to get it across that that’s wrong to do. Hopefully in time this can help toward reduction of suicide rates as well.
A potential conversation with misunderstanding parents might go as follows:
    Mom/Dad, Sesame Street’s having a wedding.
    Who?
    Bert & Ernie.
    They shouldn’t do that.
    Why?
    It’s wrong.
Why, if they love each other?
    It just is.
    Says who?
Me and the government and churches.
You and Mom love each other and you’e married.
    That’s different.
    Why?
    It’s for 1 man & 1 woman.
    Who says?
    The Bible.
    No it doesn’t.
    Our preacher does.
My friends from other religions don’t say that either.
    It’s the law anyway.
I think the law needs changed….
((Kids are pretty bright that way)).

sory, the bible does say one man one women. read the book.

Are you kidding me? They are freeking children charaters. What is wrong with adults trying to make childrens shows into adult themes, why not show Bert and Ernie blowing each other too. Why can’t the adults of the world just enjoy the innocents of Sesame Street with our kids?

  8. dotmacis

Leave Bert and Ernie alone. They’re best friends, who happen to live with each other, nothing more than that. Why do people automatically think that they’re gay, because of that?? I’m a woman, and have lived with my best friend Lisa for nearly 16 years. Recently we had a third roommate (our other best friend Michelle). She lived with us for over 15 years until her death in May. Lisa and I sleep in separate beds, in the same bedroom. We live in a two-bedroom apartment and keep the other bedroom as a recreation room. Does that make us lesbians?? I think not!!!!

Good to see that everyone is against this madness. You wanna choose the lifestyle of homosexuality then so be it, but don’t make me approve your decision…I don’t come to you asking for approval to be a heterosexual.

Perhaps that’s b/c heterosexuality is natural…if we were all homosexual the human race would die out, on the simple biological side homosexuality can’t be “Natural” (within the human nature).

I digress, I do not dislike homosexuals, definitely don’t agree with the lifestyle, but everyone is a sinner in need of salvation. Trying to push homosexual right through a child’s program is insane.

This is absolutely disgusting!!!! I don’t want my kids being fed the notion that homosexual behaviour is acceptable.

  11. james richmond

all things sesamestreet ie: books tapes vidios and any other material shall be removed from from my home and burnt.

  12. Audrey Drotar

Tony If you read the Bible look at 1 Corinthians…it very explicitly tells you homosexuality is wrong!!!

  13. kirbysdaman

I’m glad that a majority of the people still see this as being WRONG. There is hope for the world yet.
