Shamicka and Martin Lawrence File for Divorce

Shamicka Lawrence, 36, and comedic actor Martin Lawrence, 47, are calling it quits after almost two years of wedded bliss. The couple recently filed for divorce, though this should really come as no surprise to anyone who stays up-to-date with the day-to-day antics of the “Bad Boys” star. According to reports, Martin has previously stated that the pair planned to end their 24 month marriage, so the fact that paperwork has been officially filed isn’t that shocking.

“Out of love and respect for one another, we will continue to remain friends and raise our two beautiful daughters together,” the pair said in a joint statement.

The couple, who had been together for 15 years before tying the knot back in 2010, have two children together. The duo is currently pursuing joint custody of their daughters, Iyanna, 11, and Amara, 9. The Lawrences apparently signed a pre-nup before making their marriage official, which means that Shamicka won’t end up with 50% of the property they obtained during their short-lived union. Unless, of course, that’s what they agreed to.

This isn’t the first time Martin has had to sign off on divorce papers. His marriage to Patricia Southall, with whom he has a daughter, ended in 1997. The actor was also engaged to “Saved by the Bell” actress Lark Vorhees back in the early 90′s.
