Saturday Night Live veteran Seth Meyers will take the reins as the new host of Late Night tonight at 12:35 am.

Early this month, Meyers left his role as anchor of the comedy show’s “Weekend Update,” to prepare to take Jimmy Fallon’s place on the nighttime talk show. Fallon took over hosting duties for Jay Leno on The Tonight Show.

Meyers’ guests for his debut show are his former co-star, funny lady Amy Poehler; Vice President Joe Biden; and the band A Great Big World. Other stars scheduled to visit in Meyers’ first week include Kelly Ripa, Ian McKellan, Kanye West, Lena Dunham, Brad Paisley, and Patrick Stewart.

Meyers will also have a few familiar faces on set – fellow SNL alum Fred Armisen will serve as the host’s resident bandleader and Meyers’ executive producer is Lorne Michaels, the brains behind SNL.

Along with the host changes, the location of the show will also change. Both Late Night and The Tonight Show have moved to New York.

If Meyers is able to pull in the kind of numbers that Fallon did in his first week, it will be a big success for NBC. Fallon brought in 8.5 million viewers in his debut week, which is the biggest Tonight Show audience in decades, likely due in part to the big stars who stopped by, like Lady Gaga and Michelle Obama.

Judging by the Twitter reaction, large audiences are definitely possible.

Although Meyers is definitely comfortable behind the host desk and camera, he claims his interview skills are a bit rusty.

“For me, the biggest fear is interviewing because that’s the farthest from anything I’ve done before,” Meyers stated in an interview. “So hopefully the monologue, because of the writers we’ve hired, will have good jokes, and when that happens, I’ll feel pretty good. And hopefully over time, I’ll learn how to interview a little bit better.”
