Anybody who caught "Good Morning America" this past Monday, could probably see that host Robin Roberts is becoming more comfortable talking about her girlfriend, Amber Laign, on air.
During a segment where each host was talking about their recent vacations, Roberts said she headed to Baton Rouge, La. for her nieces wedding, where she was accompanied by Laign. She then revealed a wedding photo that showed her family and her longtime mate.
"The highlight [of my vacation], my dear niece Judith, her wedding, and the family was altogether in Baton Rouge over the weekend," she said. "And we have a family photo. There is Judith and her husband, Tony and my sister, Dorthy and Sally Ann, the mother of the bride, and next to me is my girlfriend Amber and my sister in law Cynthia, and my brother Butch."
Roberts' co-host, George Stephanopoulos, then asked the 53-year old if she was happy about the decision to speak about Laign publicly.
"I'm gonna tell you all this and you know because you had a front row seat of that tumultuous year I had. I have never been happier or healthier than I am right now," answered Roberts, "And my year-end post was just full of gratitude and just telling everyone all that I'm grateful for, including my girlfriend Amber who really loved me through a difficult year."
Stephanopoulos then said he hoped Roberts and Laign "felt all the love coming back," both from the morning show team and from the general public. Roberts said that she did feel the love and then quickly asked Stephanopoulos about his vacation.
On Dec. 29, Roberts sent out a very heartwarming Facebook post, where she mentioned her girlfriend of 10 years for the first time. Although Laign's name received just a brief mention, the public was immediately intrigued since the usually private newscaster chose to keep most of her private life out of the limelight.
