Porsha Williams: Demoted To Make Room For More Interesting Housewives?

Porsha Williams isn’t being kicked off of popular Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Instead she was demoted to a recurring role on the show, supporting the main Housewives actresses from the sidelines.

Williams did not take the news very well.

She said the following when asked about the matter on Dish Nation:

This is not an easy time for me right now, but I want to let everyone know that I loved being a Housewife on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Porsha also assured fans of RHOA that “it’s not goodbye”, as she will be seen on the show throughout the upcoming season. It’s just that she’ll be more or less there in a supportive role and not the focus of her own storyline.

While Porsha Williams said that she was “blindsided” by Bravo’s decision, others are less surprised given the events of last season’s reunion show.

That was the scene of her now infamous onscreen fight with her former cast-mate Kenya Moore.

Kenya called Porsha “a dumb ho” via megaphone. This led to William’s grabbing Moore by her hair and dragging her across the stage.

Before departing, Moore said that either Williams would be fired for her actions or she was leaving the show.

Bravo could have easily caved to Moore's demands, but Porsha was instead given a less important role on the series.

The suggestion that Porsha was demoted over a fight doesn't actually make sense; Bravo is not a stranger to violent confrontations between Housewives characters.

Those of us who have watched Real Housewives of New Jersey have seen numerous cast members brawl. And yet the vicious behavior never led to anyone being asked to leave.

It may come down to the fact that compared to the other RHOA women, Williams just isn't that interesting right now.

This was the reason given in an exclusive report by Hollywood Life.

Some Housewives have a great deal of drama going on in their lives, which is good for ratings. Kenya doesn't have as much personal drama, but she's a more popular housewife than Porsha.

Even if Porsha's demotion is a matter of her being uninteresting, she does have the chance to earn back her main role on the series. She simply has to demonstrate that she's an interesting reality TV star. Otherwise, she may not be back at all for future seasons.

Do you think Porsha Williams should have been demoted or should she have been fired from the show?
