Pitbull Puppy Dragged By Truck For Being “Aggressive”

A Kentucky man faces charges after he tied a neighbor’s pitbull to the back of his truck and dragged him along the road.

The man, who hasn’t been identified, said he did it because the dog was “aggressive” and killed one of his cats. The owners of the pitbull–whose name is Bear–say that’s ridiculous.

“He’s around this baby. He’s around a tiny little dog. He’s around ducks every day. I don’t believe that he’s vicious at all,” said Lydia Burch.

Waylon Burch, who has had Bear since he was “no bigger than a shoe”, said he was appalled that someone would do such a thing to an innocent dog.

“I went in, and I seen him just sitting there, just pouting, and got blood running down him… and it was Bear,” he said. “It was like seeing one of my children. It was like seeing my son in that state. It was terrible.”

Bear spent some time in a nearby animal hospital recovering and has roadrash on his stomach and paws; the Burch family says he’s slowly getting over a limp. As for the suspect, Waylon Burch says he hopes to see him go to jail or, at the very least, have to pay for Bear’s medical expenses.

So much for truth in the news. The dog is not a pitbull. It’s a lab/boxer mix and not aggressive.

Um, most dogs labeled pit bulls aren’t really pit bulls. The media calls anything it can, a pit bull, especially when a dog attacks. The term pit bull is more of a type of dog anyway; not a specific breed, and most boxer/lab crosses would be considered a pit bull in the media and certainly a pit bull in an area where pit bulls are banned or restricted. So, if there were BSL in the area of this dog, the dog would be held to pit bull standards. This article, like many others, is living proof, that there is huge media sensation and bias against pit bulls, as it is like a reader magnet when it is part of a headline. Even the breeds that are considered to be the real pit bulls, such as staffordshire terriers, bull terriers, and american pit bull terriers cannot be classified automatically as aggressive, because a dogs aggressiveness comes from how it is treated and raised. Most pit bulls are actually very friendly dogs, and just as well, there are a lot of aggressive labs out there. Just depends on the owner/handler.

It does not matter what kind of dog this is. The man should be in jail AND paying for the vet bills. ‘Nuff said!

    To whom it may concern-
I will gladly pay the vet bills for Bear if I can have five minutes alone with the guy who did this. If that dog was so aggressive, why was it not a problem getting him hitched to the truck to drag him? Even if the dog did kill a cat, two wrongs dont it right, especially when dealing with natures way. My offer stands. Deal with somebody your own size.

How about…………first – Make him pay all the vet bills including follow up care, and then second- hitch him to the back of a truck with a 10 foot (so he can’t easily climb onto the trudk bed) rope and drag him at the speed of……oh, I don’t know……..25 miles an hour or so for about 10 to 15 miles. He ought to be a good humk of hamburger by the end of his run and no “breather” stops along the way allowed. When it comes to animal cruelty, I’m a firm believer in reply in kind, such as dog fighting rings, let those convicted of running
such an abomonation (along with those who watch) be forced into a cage and made to fight until one or the other is dead and if they refuse to fighrt, let them get the same treatment they would give the dogs. Those who follow the news know what forms of punishment the dogs receive if they won’t or can’t fight.
