Phillip Seymour Hoffman has completed a 10-day detox program after getting pulled back in to drug use.

Hoffman, who won an Oscar in 2006 for his portrayal of Truman Capote, says he did drugs years ago but managed to get clean and stay that way for over two decades. The actor says the gateway back to heroin was prescription pills, but after a stay at rehab he feels strong enough to go back to work. According to TMZ, he is now on set in Europe.

While many wish him the best, some think it’s odd that he spiraled back into drug use and only spent a week in rehab:

I hope that Phillip Seymour Hoffman stays clean this time around. His sobriety may help so many people struggling with drug addiction.

The big “H,” the dreaded line I never crossed, even though I crossed others in the past in excess. Glad I survived like Mick Jagger and the boys of the Stones did. Probably shouldn’t have, probably shortened my life-span from those “excesses” to a degree, but time will tell. Don’t smoke, drink moderately and occasionally now and then, and definitely do no drugs, not even pot, anymore. I do wish him well, and all the best. Addiction sux, and no matter how many days, weeks, months and/or years a person stays clean and sober, that monkey will remain on their back for the remainder of their days of life until dead from something eventually. As I staid, addiction sux!
