When did the decline begin? Was it when Robin Thicke twerked with Miley Cyrus during the 2013 Video Music Awards? Or perhaps it was when the 37-year old was seen groping a young female fan's bottom in a photo. Surely Thicke's post-separation album, Paula, did nothing to win his wife back, especially the sappy video, "Get Her Back", which featured a bruised, crying Thicke and a Paula Patton look-alike. It could have even been the embarrassing 1-800-FLOWERS promotion. But, whichever way it happened, Patton made it clear she was finished with the Blurred Lines singer. Now it seems as if Thicke may have decided to move on - and in one of the most awkward ways possible.

Patton, who appeared in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol with Tom Cruise in 2010, brought along her husband to the set and, during that time, he met and formed a friendship with Katie Holmes, Cruise's wife at the time. Holmes helped Thicke with he and Patton's newborn baby, Julian, as his wife shot intense action scenes from the film. According to sources, Thicke and Holmes have recently renewed their friendship.

“She dropped him an email recently to see how he was, knowing he was going through divorce hell,” an insider told New Idea. “And he was so happy to hear from her.”

Although the two have not been on a date yet, it looks like it may happen in the near future.

"They've arranged a date in New York after his tour ends this month. Everyone's encouraging this as they have so much in common and if anyone can get him over Paula, it's Katie."

"Robin totally leaned on Katie," the insider said. "As she was in the same boat with Suri, who was four at the time.

"She was invaluable with her advice on looking after a new baby. They bonded over tips and music after he heard her sing to Suri."

Holmes and Cruise split in 2012. No word as to whether Patton and Cruise will hook up any time soon, although that would make for an interesting story.
