Obama On Kanye: President Thinks He’s A Jackass, Too

By: Amanda Crum - April 13, 2012

Kanye West is talented, and not many will dispute that. But he’s also a raging ego-maniac, and not many will dispute that, either.

West is notorious for comments he’s made about himself over the years, including but not limited to comparing himself to Michael Jordan:

“I realize that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice,” he said in an interview on Wednesday. “It’s me settling into that position of just really accepting that it’s one thing to say you want to do it and it’s another thing to really end up being like Michael Jordan.”

He’s also made some arguable claims about others in the industry:

“The greatest, biggest pop-cultural figure of all time, arguably bigger than Jesus Christ, is Michael Jackson.”

West made headlines in 2009 when he interrupted young country star Taylor Swift–who was onstage to receive her award for Best Female Video at the MTV Video Music Awards–to grab the mic from her hand and declare that while her video was good, Beyonce had one of “the best videos of all time”. Beyonce was one of Swift’s fellow nominees in the category.

He’s shocked audiences for years with his absurd rants and high opinion of himself, and now it seems the general public isn’t alone in recognizing his jackassery. The prez himself says that while he thinks Kanye is talented, he prefers Jay-Z, and said so to David Samuels of The Atlantic.

“Although I like Kanye,” Obama continues, with an easy smile. “He’s a Chicago guy. Smart. He’s very talented.” He is displaying his larger awareness of the question, looking relaxed, cerebral but friendly, alive to the moment, waiting for me to get to the heart of the matter.

“Even though you called him a jackass?,” I ask.

“He is a jackass,” Obama says, in his likable and perfectly balanced modern-professorial voice. “But he’s talented.”

Obama first mentioned his feelings towards the rapper back in 2009, right after the Taylor Swift incident.

“The young lady seems like a perfectly nice person. She’s getting her award. What’s he doing up there? He’s a jackass,” he said.

No word yet on how Kanye feels about all this; he’s been busy taking Kim Kardashian out on the town. But I have a feeling we’ll hear about it soon enough.

President Obama has plenty of time to comment about the entertainment industry but has no time to get things done or even keep any of his promises. I hope in an eventual second term he does more of the latter.

    • C

      That deserves a ‘Fist Bump’!!!

    • Alton

If the republicans stop acting like children then maybe he would get things done. Obama approached the matter as a CEO would, but their are people that just see party and have refused progress. It is not Obamas fault.
      I’m just saying!

      • scott

We cannot afford a second term with this communist.

        • 11th Grade Student

Clearly scott you dont know what that means.

Give it up, Alton! It’s the same ol same with you leftists!! Nothing has been Obama’s fault since he’s been in office…and yet everything was Bush’s fault for eight years, actually for the last 11 according to people like you. If Obama and his flunkies would come up with a plan worth a damn it wouldn’t be a problem getting it through the proper channels.

Now getting back to the article…I agree with Obama, Kayne is a jackass. So is Obama. So is Alton.

      • CJE

What is not Obama’s fault? The decrease in unemployment? The increase in hiring the last four months? The economy growing? Americans not being killed in Iraq? Bin Laden’s death? A plan to hand over Afghanistan to the Afghans?

As a real Reagan Republican (and not one of these Palin, fear mongering, Bible thumping morons who are destroying the party) it is hard to deny his accomplishments. The country was in a normal economic downturn (severe, but normal) and he seems to have weathered the storm. He did not create the recession (or TARP, so stop saying he did), but his team seems to have handled it just fine.

And that’s all you want from a president: someone who will not make things worse.

        • Pokey

CJE you’re the man. I wish our country could have more level-headed honest people like yourself.

        • Marie Bonacello

It is just as foolish to say that everything is Obama’s fault as it was to say everything was Bush’s fault. The fact is though, that as President, you are held accountable for everything, good and bad, under your watch. And look at what Obama has, or better yet, hasn’t done. He has not done anything with unemployment, he has not put us in a better energy position, he has allowed $ to be invested in energy for other countries, he has increased spending and debt by an enormous amount, he has not done anything for the economy, he has forced the beginning of a green economy, which cannot stand on its own without govt subsidies (take a look at the ethanol industry and explain to me how it would even be an industry w/out govt subsidy (I understand Obama did not start the ethanol market)) he has taken more $ from Oil companies than any other president, he has put outright and admitted communists and socialists into high ranking positions within his administration, he has jumped into these so-called race battles clearly favoring black people without even understanding what happened (Trayvon Austin and BeerGate).
I can go on and on but as you can see, there is a trend of negative with this President. You have to ask yourself what you really want out of your country and your president, and I would imagine you are not getting that with our current president

obama has had 3.5 years to turn the econimy around and bring in jobs, he has not done it, in fact all the so called jobs he has created, he has caused more job losses, the unimployment figures are not accurate, more people quit looking, why, because there are no jobs, he has put an end to more gov contracts that put close to a million job losses, that all the sub contractors had to lay off, wait till he is back in office, you have seen nothing yet,it will get worse, socialist programs, more to come with a socialist senet.

        • http://yahoo.com vincent knight

congrat, i hope you become a muslim

    • http://TimeWarner Geronimo

Yes,but Barack Obama NAILED it, RIGHT ON. I think that West misses his mother, and NO one can change it no matter how much money he ha. He has a case on HIMSEF and he goes through women like DIRTY underwear. He was horrendous to Taylor Swift, we all watched it, and THAT will NEVER be forgotten. Can ne sing? Anyone thatcan’t, can RAP. Singing isa TALENT.

      • AUDREY

Kanye West obviously has some huge issues!!!!!!!!!! He needs to get over himself and do some serious counseling.

    • 11th Grade Student

President Obama is doing the most he can. the only reason why nothing can get acomplished because there is no balance in the congress. there is no blame placed on no one. its just funny that the people who we vote to govern our country are so childish and selfish that the only people benifiting from all of this madness are them selves.

      • Scott W

What do you mean “there’s no balance”? Much to your disappointment and O’Blam-a’s as well, our system of governemnt is based on checks and balances to ensure a consolidation of power doesn’t happen. Besides, he had an unprecedented majority in both the house and senate and still couldn’t do anything productive. This guy is finished, thank God!!!

    • Common Sense

Personally, I learned the meaning of Checks and Balances in the 3rd grade. Pres. Obama cannot get any bills passed without others’ approval. And the Repuclicans and traitor Democrats who rode in on his coattails and used him to get elected have done nothing to support him. They have passed nothing to help the middle and lower class citizens of America. Everything that makes sense that he proposes is rejected.

And besides that, he may be one of the most “human” presidents we’ve ever had. I think it’s great that he is so in-touch with pop culture.

  • Corletta L.Hardy

President Obama,I fully agree with you Kanye is a jackass, yes he talented and hes absurb.President Obama I do prefer JayZ also,JayZ is a business man hes very talented and v ery professional.

    • Roy

President Obama has some great qualities not found in many of today’s leaders: he has a strong ability to multitask or to manage different issues at the same time (be they political, social, economic, cultural, etc.); he has a keen sense of awareness on the issues that affect people; and he has proven to be someone who can relate to the people of the USA even on a subject of entertainment.

  • shara

One thing for certain not only is the artist a jackass, but those who he keeps around him act in the same manner.

  • http://yahoo shanta

    i now love obama

  • http://yahoo.com Ellen Leemans

Are you all kidding me?? Having an entertainment conversation with the Commander in Chief? Doesn’t he have anything more important to be doing like cleaning up his mess!!!

    • M

Its a 30 second question and answer, give it a rest. Its not he’s watching The Hollywood True Story or anything like that for hours on end. Some people I swear.

    • Paul

Exactly. I say we do this. We need to get an investigation launced as to how our President, just as soon as he was inaugurated, made unemployment jump to an all time high.Started two pointless wars that have sent our deficit soaring triggering the worst recession since the Great Depression And worst of all, he is a Muslim. All of that would only be true if you watched Fox News or were a fan of Rush Limbaugh. Now according to facts and reports (those are things that are real Republicans), the stimulus packages were successful and most if not all have already been repaid. Unemployment has gone down every month for the last 23 months. He ended the war in Iraq (that was a campaign promise, so mission accomplished. Oh and under his command, our military captured and killed some guy named Bin Laden. He has accomplished most of what he promised at his Inauguration. You guys do remember that speech right? Who am I tring to kid. He used way too many big words for you guys to understand.

      • Scott W

Ummmm Paul….you should remember to take your meds before you type on Daddy’s computer. This is a place where grown-ups talk about politics and share facts…just sayin!!

      • for real

Are you on drugs like Rush?

    • for real

Come on honestly some people are petty and unrealistic. I am not a Obama fan but he is a real person who eats, sleeps and craps like anyone else. He will never be perfect and being President is a job. He has down time, he has family and he is allowed to watch tv and listen to music. He is allowed to vacation and celebrate holidays. Anyone who didn’t would go insane. Be real if your going to comment.

  • S. McGruder

Was Obama talking about himself? If so, he nailed it!

  • mj

    West is a JACK!!!

  • A

People act as if they work 24/7 and Obama should not take time to enjoy life. First he is not cleaning up his mess, the country was running long before he was born. Everything was perfect until Obama came and messed it all up. Second to be president you have to be a Jackass sometimes…republicans and those annoying Tea Party people are around. He tried to be nice but he had to threaten Christmas and their other holidays to get some results out of those republicans. I think it is a noble thing to speak with all demographics of people. The world loves Obama while some Americans who deep down only care about a color of skin dislike him, states a lot. It is so easy to judge, for example you could be working instead wasting company dollars on the internet. Give me a fist bump for that one!

  • Stacy

I’ve never even heard a Kanye West song until recently when I logged onto to you tube to see what all the hype was about. I listened to one song got bored after a few seconds and then moved on to another song. Listen to that one, same thing. Kanye can’t even come close to Eminem. Sorry Kanye, Eminem is the king! You’re just a pawn.

  • CupcakesGoRawr

i dont like obama or kanye.

  • STFU

i dont like obama or kanye

  • John

the president prefers jay-Z up his ass.

  • Potsy

Kanye West has no talent. His songs are all noise, noise, noise. The lack of talent, and that alone is why he must act so outrageousely. The whole Taylor Swift thing should have granted him a life-time ban from the Grammy’s. But, Taylor Swift and especially Beyonce (who are both very talented) just showed their class in that situation. As far as the President is concerned, while it is true that no one should think of him having to working 24/7, he works far less than the rest of us. Yet, we are the ones who are paying for all these handouts he wants to give everyone. The sooner this moron-in-chief is gone from office, the better. He has accumulated more debt in the first 9 months in office than all prior US Presidents combined!!! Think about that. There is no end in sight for his spending. This moron-in-chief is in way over his head, doesn’t have a clue, and apparently, neither do his economic advisers. When making your decison in the fall, America, decide whether we can afford to work more, pay more, whatever.

  • Art

I totally agree with our President on the jackass part. The talented part, not so much, and definitely he is not, and will not be, the voice of his generation. He is not the new “King” of anything. He is way not comparable to Jay-Z or Michael Jordan. He’s just a black loud mouth punk, period! Also, Obama for four more! Yeah! He’s doin’ the best he can for our country and it actually shows!

  • theresa

I agree with obama, Kanye is a jackass. Now the jackass is dating a fatass! Make a song of that.

    • kimye

Ok the song goes like this…
“My ass is bigger than your ass, my ass is bigger than yours…My ass is bigger cause I eat keneration my ass is bigger than yours…..bow wow

  • Scarlet318

Is this the pot calling the kettle black. I think our jet setting pres needs to keep his eye on the ball….the running of our country.

Kanye West needs to get over himself quickly. He has some huge issues. He needs serious counseling.
