Nikki Reed, who has joined the cast of Sleepy Hollow, was hospitalized on Thursday for dehydration and exhaustion.

The Twilight actress and new wife to Vampire Diaries actor Ian Somerhalder was rushed to a San Diego hospital after falling ill at Comic-Con. Although Nikki Reed is said to be doing much better, she told doctors that she was suffering from throat problems. After completing some tests, it was determined that dehydration and exhaustion explained her symptoms.

A source close Nikki told New York Daily News that Nikki Reed, 27,thought she had gotten sick because she had been flying so much lately.

“Nikki said that it was probably because she’s been flying so much for work. She’s been to 20 cities in eight days for work obligations,” said the source.

Despite being kept overnight for observation, Nikki jumped right back into her busy life. After heading to Atlanta to spend the night with husband Ian Somerhalder, who is currently filming Vampire Diaries there, she headed to Nashville to attend a launch party for Bonnie Rose white whisky.

Meanwhile, Nikki Reed recently announce that she would be joining Sleepy Hollow for its third season, playing the part of Betsy Ross. Variety first confirmed that Reed would be taking on the role as the Ross, known best for sewing America’s first flag.

“We are all very excited to welcome Nikki Reed into the world of Sleepy Hollow,” Len Wiseman, co-creator and executive producer, told the Hollywood Reporter. “Nikki’s the perfect choice to bring a smart and sexy edge to our show’s twisted version of American icon, Betsy Ross.”
