NFL Preseason: Here’s What Twitter Thinks About ItBy: Chris Crum - August 10, 2012
The NFL Preseason is officially under way. On Thursday, the Broncos crushed the Bears (31-3), The Chargers beat the Packers (21-13), the Patriots beat the Saints (7-6), The Eagles beat the Steelers (24-23), the Ravens beat the Falcons (31-17), and the Redskins beat the Bills (7-6).
All of this means very little in the grand scheme of the NFL season, and reflects little on the talent of each team. It’s preseason – the time of year when coaches assess their teams’ talent, experiment with plays, and otherwise prepare for when it really comes time to get down to business. Fans know all of this, but there’s just something about having NFL (in any form) back after the long offseason, and the excitement is there regardless.
On Friday, the Browns will play the Lions, the Giants will play the Jaguars, the Buccaneers will play the Dolphins, the Jets will play the Bengals, the Cardinals will play the Chiefs, and the Vikings will play the 49ers. On Saturday, the Texans will play the Panthers, the Titans will play the Seahawks, the Rams will play the Colts, and the Cowboys will play the Raiders.
A few of the early preseason story lines include a Peyton Manning interception, a strong performance by Robert Griffin III, an injury to Michael Vick.
Here’s a sampling of what Twitter users are saying about the preseason so far:
Last year preseason > This year preseason
So wat Redskins won a game it tha preseason, win a game in tha regular season
Smell that?! Yep that’s Texans preseason football tomorrow
A bunch of the preseason games yesterday had the teams scoring less than 10 points.
I really love it when preseason football comes on. It means fall is right around the corner!
When are the Vikings going to fire that moron Chirdless? #preseason
Just started preseason & we already have potential fines for illegal hits thanks to Rodgers-Cromartie. Gunna be an interesting season #NFL
breaking down all the preseason games where the starters play a series or two is crazy waste of time. Rookies you look at if anything
Why do people brag about winning preseason games? Especially when most of the points was scored by and on players who won’t play
I hate preseason NFL, it’s like watching your team walk over a minefield
Meanwhile, fantasy football players get to assess the talent themselves, and prepare for another fun season.
