Nerlens Noel Picks Kentucky: Next Anthony Davis?

The nation’s top basketball recruit has decided to bring his game to the bluegrass state, where Wildcat fever is spreading like wildfire (or couch-fire, if you prefer) after winning the 2012 National Championship.

“I’ll be taking my talents to the University of…” Nerlens Noel said yesterday, and then spun around to reveal “UK” shaved into the back of his head.

The 6’11″ center from Massachusetts is being heralded as the next Anthony Davis already. Noel wasn’t even included in the 2012 recruiting class a few months ago because of knee injuries which set him back a grade. Rather than wait for graduation another year, however, he pushed to reclassify to senior status. That’s good news for UK, as Noel went on to score 12.6 points, 3.9 blocks and 7.9 rebounds for Tilton Prep this season despite those knee problems.

Noel chose Kentucky over Syracuse and Georgetown, saying he talked it over with his mom and the two of them decided UK was the best fit for him. Not even a full 24 hours since his announcement, he has already won over our fans with his star potential…and that sweet, sweet high-top fade.
