Natalie Portman is one of those actresses you might have a love/hate relationship with. She’s talented, gorgeous, funny, and she has an affinity for nerds, which has won her favor in the past few years. It’s hard to like someone who seems to have everything, but you can’t help but like her. She’s charming, she’s witty, she conveys a sweet nature. Also, she’s done some incredible movies over the years. And, even if you’re a fan, there are a few things you might not know about her.

1. She’s got beauty and brains

While in high school, Portman wrote a paper titled “A Simple Method to Demonstrate the Enzymatic Production of Hydrogen from Sugar”, which was ultimately entered into the Intel Science Talent Search. She also contributed to a study on memory which was related to her degree while at Harvard, which was later published. She graduated from Harvard in 2003 with a degree in Psychology.

2. She’s been acting longer than you might think

Although she was a dancer and appeared in several Broadway shows as a child, she didn’t make her film debut until “Leon: The Professional” in 1994.

3. She didn’t live in the U.S. until she was three years old

She was born in Jerusalem.

4. She loves animals

In 2007 she launched her own line of vegan footwear.

5. She’s friendly with a Beatle

She has appeared in two of Paul Mccartney’s videos, “Dance Tonight” and “My Valentine”.

    Obama sucks!

    • mcp123

      Mitt/Ryan sucks worse.

How an article on actress Natalie Portman turned into a political debate is strange, but if we’re going there then lets make something perfectly clear. If you make less than 100k a year, are on or have family members who are on social security and are voting for Romney you have either lost your mind or you have no clue. We have NEVER had a Republican president who has done anything for the middle class or poor of this country. Yes that also includes Ronald Reagan who I liked personally, but whose economic policies were almost the ruin of this country.

      • SJ

Larry – you should stop drinking the liberal kool-aid. It is rotting your mind. Full employment and good paying careers are what is good for the middle class – that is what Reagan got out of the economy with good policy. How is the destruction to the economy happening now (brought on by the mortgage debacle started by Clinton, ignored by Bush and made worse by the big O’s new policies) helping anyone?

Not sure what this post has to do with anything web pro related and the amount of content took about 5 minutes to put together.

  • Rich Nichols

…a delicious Steak & Shake vanilla milkshake through a red & white stripy straw! oh-bama, that’s good!

Also, you suck. And by ‘suck’ I mean you’re a lousy blob of festering homo soloensis.

  • SMM1977

Clinton showed up Obama at the DNC, but Romney is going to win the election. The DNC is the last time Obama will see such devoted support for him. America doesn’t like his failed policies. Time for real change.

  • Tim

Did Natalie’s publicist get this article published? I mean BIG F-ing deal about her. Really? She’s just another massive leftist hollywood tool.

  • Soz

This is a small article about an actress yet the supporters of the conservative right make it about politics, bringing their usual breed of hatred and anger. Nothing changes with them. Does it make you feel better to be barking at a computer screen or your radio or television set while completely unaware that the world progresses and changes as it should and it is leaving you behind?!! Keep barking. You guys are becoming less and less as the days go by.

    • Soz is crying

Don’t worry, Soz. You clearly have nothing intelligent to add to the conversation so you immediately impose the view that conservatives ‘hate’ everything. You argue this point because you know that Obama has been a bad president and can’t defend him any other way. I understand your frustration. It must be hard accepting that the man you voted for is a fraud of a president and hasn’t improved the private sector one bit.

      • Alec

Its people like the guy above me that make me love being a conservative. We are smart.

      • Soz is crying is crying even harder

I love that you took the time to make a nick solely to make fun of one poster. See, it’s not hard to do and it’s not even witty. Quit being an armchair bully just because the OP nailed you like a 2$ hooker since you couldn’t restrain yourself, you made his point for him. LOL.

        • Soz, Soz Crying, and Alec

A douche bag of your magnitude can cleanse a whale’s vagina. How do you turn a 5 Thing’s You Didn’t Know article into a political cut down? Cause you all are douche bags with nothing better to do.. Get a LIFE!!

          • Bhaskar

Love your expression ‘whales vagina’!! LOL That too in an article on Natalie Portman. :)

    • Leigh

Soz, I am a conservative that read this article because I think that Natalie Portman is awesome. I am disappointed to see you bring politics into this comment stream while simultaneously condemning others for doing it. You are a flippin’ hypocrite.

      • rebec

Hmmm, reading is fundamental Leigh. He wasn’t actually making political commentary, just commenting on those that have done just that. Talk about being a hypocrite. Mirror much? Hah!!

        • Leigh

So you join him in proving my point you ad psychological projection, mischaracterize my reading comprehension, and add two more layers of hypocricy? You do all this, and finish with a snarky comment? He clearly stated, “…supporters of the conservative right make it about politics, bringing their usual breed of hatred and anger. Nothing changes with them.” Commenting on the behaviors of any group with a specified political leaning is political commentary. I know it hurt being dealt this humilliation, but maybe you will learn not to correct or try to be sarcastic with those of intellect vastly superior to yours.

          • rod

Aww give poor Soz a break. He was provoked.

          • Vader

Leigh is my new hero. Well said, accurate and precise.

  • Ho-hum

Okay, I didn’t know about the McCartney vids–but then I don’t give a rat’s round rump about music videos.

Now, how about four more things I didn’t know…

  • Jessica

I can’t help but think that Natalie Portman is my long lost twin.

    • Darren

Natalie’s twin – are you married? : ) and close to Seattle?

  • carol

  • moosegirl

They didn’t mention how she couldn’t return to Isreal because she’d be arrested for abandoning her obligation to the Isreali army. I read that somewhere a while ago.

    • T Jozwick

The Israeli military only draft Israelis that live in Israel, and she has not lived in Israel since she was three, which means that she gets an exemption notice when she visits. She could, if she wants to, volunteer to serve the 18 month requirement.

      • dudeman

she could volunteer to serve the requirement… how does that even make sense bro?

  • http://www.greenecosystem.us Ricky C Menasco

    I’m ready Natalie Portman.
You will be able to disquise yourself as a “green readiness” after all.

  • imitationcat

How do the illegals fit into all of this?

  • The Sitter

Not sure how whale’s vagina fits into this story, but yes Natalie is a big obama koolaid drinker, as most of the mindless actors and actresses in Hollywood are.

  • Dara

Natalie Portman is pretty awesome. I don’t get why everyone is bringing politics into this. She’s an actress, not a politician.
