Muppets dump Chick-Fil-A in support of gay marriage? Apparently that’s the case. The Henson Company once supplied the controversial chicken slinging restaurant with toys for their children’s meals, items which featured numerous characters created by the late, great Jim Henson. However, following Dan Cathy’s admission that he only believes in marriage from a biblical perspective, the Muppets are apparently taking their beloved brand elsewhere. Given that the company openly supports the union between frog and pig, this makes perfect sense to me.

“The Jim Henson Company has celebrated and embraced diversity and inclusiveness for over fifty years and we have notified Chick-Fil-A that we do not wish to partner with them on any future endeavors,” the company announced on their official Facebook page.

Although Chick-Fil-A has yet to comment on the Muppets’ departure, the restaurant did release a statement following the vast amount of backlash it received from Cathy’s Baptist Press interview. And while they didn’t backtrack on their stance regarding gay marriage, they did say they intend to treat people the same regardless of who they are or what they believe.

“The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect – regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender,” the statement read. “We will continue this tradition in the over 1,600 Restaurants run by independent Owner/Operators. Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.”

If, like many people, you’ve decided to take your breaded chicken money elsewhere, why not try a knock-off recipe you can cook up at home. That way, you can still enjoy the same culinary delight without all of that pesky guilt. Check out the embedded video to learn how.

They’re “MUPPETS” how much could they eat anyway? Oh, I almost forgot-EAT AT CHICK-FIL-A!!!

    • BetterOffNed

No, and by the way, the Muppets and Jim Henson Inc. employ hundreds of people and, unlike the holier than thou a-holes at Chick-fil-a, do not push their ideals on others. As a company, Ji, Henson Inc. is more scrupulous if only because they will not associate with a company that feels they should espouse their personal, religious opinions on the general public. You’re a chicken restaurant, make chicken and shut up!

      • RC

So Henson Co. taking a stand for gay marriage does not constitute them espousing their personal, religious opinions on the general public?

      • Mike

Ned, when was the last time you ate at Chick Fil A and they actually said anything to you about God or the Bible? How have they “pushed their ideals” on others? The founder was interviewed by a magazine and asked for his opinion. He gave it. It’s not like Chick Fil A aired a commercial to let everyone know his opinion. As for pushing their ideals, I see companies and organizations do it every day–ever see an NBC commercial about being “green”? Or the NFL commercials for 60 minutes of exercise a day? If you don’t complain about those, then you’re being hypocritical to complain about Chick Fil A.

everybody’s entitled to their opinion…..they…meaning the muppits are a CARTOON…..

    • anthonyconsalvi

Considering you can’t even spell “muppets” correctly, your comments are null and void (along with your zero IQ)

      • http://yahoo garry ebright

Who put you in charge-maybe she made a mispelling-but why insult her

    • BetterOffNed

He insulted her because 1) the Muppets are not a cartoon, they are part of an organization built by Jim Henson and include hundreds of people, and several television and other entertainment franchises. and 2) All you had to do is look at the top of your web browser, you know, where it spells the word Muppets out for you the entire freaking time you are looking at the article.

  • Sj

I did’nt even know the Muppets partnered with Chick Fil A … Now if the cows decided not to support CFA that would be a lose … so meh bye muppets … Good job Chick Fil A, continue to stand up for what you believe in …

    • jean potts

AMEN to Chic Fil A .. Taking a stand on an issue isn’t OK??? Says WHO ?? The Liberals who want freedom of choice and freedom of speech as long as it agrees with their agenda. Don Cathy — you’re the bomb! EAT MOR CHIKIN and bye bye puppets….

  • mark

Bogus story. Muppet toys turn out to be defective and a recall was in the works, chickfila covers for Henson then pulls the gay card to cover their defective toys.how convenient.

  • carrie

Its a sad day when a “muppet” say wiser things than so called humans. I am bi-sexual and happily married to the same man for over 15 yrs. Yes we bring women into our bedroom and to be honest if i werent married i would be w/a woman. Its all about attraction. Does same sex marriage hurt u in any physical way? NO. Take a theology class…it will open ur eyes…because in all honesty the bible was written by man- chew on that one

  • Tom

Of course they sided with gay marriage, they have had hands shoved up their butts for years, who knows what else has been shoved up there.

    • Louis

Tom, great comment! However, let us give them a chance to get these problems…behind them.

    • BetterOffNed

You are a sad excuse for a human.

    • jean potts

That was crude, rude and vulgar ~ but hilarious.

  • Linda

I’m all for same sex marriages and all but everyone is allowed to speak their beliefs and Chic-Fil-A is a Christian group so why was anyone shocked for them saying that? As far as I’m concerned their political beliefs don’t effect the taste of their food.

    • BetterOffNed

No, Chik-fil-a is not a christian group, it is a CHICKEN RESTAURANT! They have only one purpose, to cook and serve food and I will not take my chicken sandwich with a side of proselytizing. Nobody is shocked, but they quite frankly hung themselves by making any type of statement in the first place.

  • http://yahoo garry ebright

I am not against much of anything but your answer dosent make sense

    • BetterOffNed

Exactly what about it doesn’t make sense, seems pretty up front to me…

  • BetterOffNed

Side note: Chick-fil-a president also stated that each of the people that run all of the 1600 restaurants are either single and never married, or married once and only once, and still married to that person. Sure, I’m so sure there are no gay managers, dishwashers, fry cooks, anything in your restaurants, I’m also so incredibly sure that there can’t be a single divorced person working for your company…

  • BetterOffNed

To all of the people that are here making disparaging remarks about the Henson company. You should be ashamed of yourselves and you could never be as good of a person as Jim Henson was…

  • cmon

It seems that these days, the only “safe” answer if you’re worried about gay backlash is “no comment” when asked how you feel about gay marriage. If you express your opinion you’re automatically a bigot if you don’t agree with the gay agenda. Of course if I owned a restaurant I wouldn’t care if gays took their business elsewhere just because they don’t think everyone has a right to their own beliefs. Maybe moral people should start doing that; walk into a restaurant, ask to see the manager and ask his position on gay marriage. If he doesn’t express his opposition to it, just inform him he’s a bigot for not believing as you do and take your business elsewhere.

  • Marian

Truett Cathy did not say anything against gays/lesbians. He only stated that he believed marriage was between man and woman. He has based his company on christian principles and as christians, that is what we believe. He, like the rest of us, has freedom of speech. I, too, believe that marriage is between man/woman but I do not have anything against the gay/lesbian lifestyle. It is their choice (and we all have freedom of choice) and I respect that. I have many friends in that lifestyle. I respect Cathy for his stand and, yes, it may hurt him some but I really don’t think it will break him !!

  • Dan Burress

Thank GOD!Chik -Fil- A has the moral courage to take a stand! There is a spirit of falsehood and perversion sweeping our nation. For the Henson family to come out and support sexual perversion is a shame. You see on Chik Fila’s farm only a rooster and a hen have sex.On the Mupptes farm Miss Piggy likes female pigs and Kermit puts more than flies in his mouth.

  • blurtle

Kermit would do better to teach about our precious right of free speech.

  • jjj

What is happening to our country? Doesn’t any one stand up for morality?

  • Mark D.

I guess the muppets will be supporting Jerry Sandusky now, since they seem to like those rump rangers. Too bad, they will lose lots of viewers who don’t want their children indoctrinated by garbage. Good bye muppets!

    • http://none Ricky Herrin

I’m with you Mark D. No more “pecker-nosed pervert muppet puppets around my Grandchildren anymore. Adios losers!

  • Loe & Joanne Masaguer

This is very weird and I hope, perhaps someone will be able to explain this to me. We know two gay married couples in our area, both are actually happier than some of our straight friends who are married. I would like to know why the sun still raises every morning, I still go to work, my kids are in school, we still go on vacation every summer; our lives have not changed at all. Was our roof supposed to cave in, was I supposed to loose my job, get a divorce and loose my kids???? I mean, we Do Know two Gay Married Couples and we Support them, but so far we are doing just fine; are we just lucky????

  • Tyler.

Chik-Fil-A has the right to free speech(like some are complaining about), and so does the Henson Company. They CHOOSE to donate millions to anti-gay organizations, and Henson now CHOOSES to not allow their products to be sold anymore because they don’t want the money earned to be used for such organizations that go against everything they stand for – for the past 50years. They stand for EQUALITY for all. Not just gays – but race, gender etc. I’m sure if Chik-Fil-A were donating millions to anti-race organizations they would of done the same thing. I’ve never been or live near a Chik-Fil-A and I’m sure as hell glad I don’t!
I’m just happy to live in Canada where it is TRULY free and EVERYONE has the same rights as every other citizen.
Thanks again The Jim Henson Company for doing the right thing and standing up for what you believe in :).
