  • Mark Wahlberg continues to do big things, and has just inked a deal with A&E for a second show to air on the network. He has recently worked with the network on The Wahburgers, a reality show about the Wahlberg family.

He has been seen in the role of the producer on a number of occasions before, and will do so again with the new show. Mark Wahlberg has previously been a producer on HBO’s Entourage, which saw him as a guest star on select episodes, and he is currently a producer on Boardwalk Empire, which also airs on HBO.

Wahlberg’s new show is called Breaking Boston, and is described as a docudrama. He has modeled much of the series on his own life and personal experiences that he has had in his hometown of Boston.

The show will follow a group of four blue-collar women in their twenties, as they try break the cycle of their peers in a town where education, employment, and opportunities are hard to come by.

Mark Wahlberg was most recently seen on the big screen in Lone Survivor, and has received Oscar nominations for both The Departed and The Fighter.

He was recently chosen as the host of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. While it may seem like an odd fit for such a big action star, he is also a big family man, and will see the opportunity as a change of pace from his usual films.

Speaking on the characters of the show, Mark Wahlberg said “These are real women telling their original stories of trying to break out of what’s expected of them. The odds are difficult, but I believe they can make it.”

In addition to Wahlberg, the long list of executive producers includes Stephen Levison, Bill Thompson, Stephanie Drachkovich, Jennifer Colbert, Lily Neumeyer and Devon Graham. It is also brought to viewers by 44 Blue Productions.

A&E will debut the upcoming Mark Wahlberg production, Breaking Boston, on March 13.
