The television series Law and Order: SVU has undergone some big changes over the last few months. Not only have several popular characters left the show, but storylines have started to change as well.

The show is about to return from its midseason break where it left many viewers on the edge of their seats after Mariska Hargitay’s character, Detective Olivia Benson was kidnapped and tormented. Mariska recently talked to TODAY’s Matt Lauer about the show and her character.

“I think it’s been a journey,” she said on Wednesday of the drama. I think the writing changes now that we have new show runners. It feels to me like a different show now, which I think is a great thing. After 15 years the show feels so unbelievably fresh, and that’s a gift.”

Law and Order: SVU fans may have mixed feelings about the changes, but if Mariska is right, the changes will soon grow on them.

So what can we expect when the show resumes?

According to Mariska, the detectives will find Benson’s attacker, but it won’t be easy for Benson to find closure or move past the attack. Several of the shows will focus on Benson struggling to deal with the incident while working cases.

The winter premiere of “Law & Order: SVU” airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. on NBC. Will you be tuning in to see the new changes to the show and how Detective Benson deals with her recent attack?

I’m so glad someone else noticed this besides me. I am getting so tired of people writing articles that do not know how to use the English language anymore. Amen to your comment!

I am so tired of people writing articles WHO do not know how to use the English language. People require WHO and things require THAT.

Whenever you correct someone’s grammar just remember that nobody likes you.

The original Law & Order was messed up when thy did away with Michael Morarity as a ADA and Dann Floreck now they have done away with Det Stabler as Olivia Bensons partner also Stabler was not OLD enough to retire like Capt. Cragen was. Now even the District Attorneys are bailing out on the show it is just a matter of time before it gets CANCELED like many a good show. What did happen to Christoher Melloni?

They didn’t “do away” with Moriarty-that nutjob left on his own. Nobody ever said Eliot was old enough to retire-after the gazillionth shooting in the SVU offices he quit. So goes the story. This show tonight was the last one I’ll be watching. What a lousy job of acting by Hargitay. Just a lot of mouth squirming and wild eyed looks-when she cried at the end it was okay, but she should be crying because this show has had it. And I don’t know what’s going on with her, but she looks a lot older and wider than she did. Whatever-this show is on it’s last legs. When they decided to stretch the rape/kidnap/pipe smackin’ story over the entire damn season they made a huge mistake.
