Mariah Carey Buys Out First Class Cabin for $118,000

By: Pam Wright - April 24, 2014

Mariah Carey sure likes to travel in style.

The 44-year-old singer is reported to have spent £70,000 – almost $118,000– to buy out the entire first class section of a British Airways flight to France for the Cannes Film Festival next month.

With an estimated net worth of $498 million, I suppose it’s like buying a Snickers for the rest of us.

Her reason for buying out the entire first class section? She said she doesn’t want to be disturbed by fans as she flies from New York to France for eight hours.

“Over the years Mariah has grown accustomed to travelling in ultimate style so she doesn’t think twice about paying such a crazy amount to ensure her privacy,” a source said.

The pampered singer – who says she will feature her twins on her next album – plans on taking time on the eight-hour flight to relax.

“At least she’ll be able to stock up on the missing passengers’ complimentary eye masks and hot towels,” the insider said.

“Let’s hope she doesn’t demand that British Airways lays out fluffy carpets for her, kits out the upper deck with puppies and paints the interiors cream. To be honest, it would be cheaper for Mariah to just hire her own private jet.”

It’s no secret that Carey likes to throw her money and her power around as she marches through life, but the singer claims it’s because people just won’t listen.

“I never had a mental breakdown, I had a diva fit and it was [because] no one wanted to let me have a say. When you start so young in the industry people are used to controlling you and then they realise, ‘Oh this person has an opinion… OK it’s different now,'” she said.

It looks like she enjoyed time with her kiddos over the Easter weekend, donning bunny ears and coloring Easter eggs.

that’s too bad she doesn’t get time alone. feel so bad for her. now that i here she worth 498 mill. while the rest of us is living check by check. don’t bother printing articles about issues these singers have with the public that made her.

  • Borat

If this is true (which it probably isn’t) why wouldn’t she just fly privately at a similar price? This makes zero sense

    • mjs0177

      She’s going green.

      jealous!

  • see me

Mariah could you please fly private I don’t want to be bothered by the endless demands you are going to make while on a commercial jet liner that I am riding in with you on. Please do yourself on a private flight with your own pilot with you own crew to selfish you.

Think of the good that money could have done, what a waste.

  • BettyBoop

Mariah unfortunately is unaware of the state of her career. She is a has been. I highly doubt there will be tons of people disturbing her arrogant self for anything! She can get a private jet for her pinhead husband er son, and her foolish looking kids! Why is the girl always wearing those goofy pink sunglasses anyways? The little son looks silly just like Nick. A very confused singer from the past who thinks she really is something of relevance today.

that is so hateful how are you going to go in on her babies little glasses??? mc fan or not that’s horrible and unnecessary for you to say such mean things.

    • Barb

BettyBoop, Mariah is one thing! But the children are altogether different. The daughter has a eye issue and needs the glasses. Really…

  • Tammy Bellone

With an estimated net worth of $498 million you think maybe she would take some time to be home and raise “dem babies”

  • Realist555

damn, it looks like she gonna need all that space

  • susielyn

Why is it necessary for her to flaunt…everything. “look at me, I have big boobs & I left them out for you”…”look at me, I’m rich, people beneath me are just waiting for me to throw them a morsel”…and then there is just plain old “look at me, please, please, please”. She’s probably has only 25%, if that, of the fans she used to have. She has the most arrogant look of any singer, anywhere. She’s put herself on a pedestal, her importance is self proclaimed. Yawn.

People are entitled to their own opinion, but to post mean comments about someone else’s children is mean and unnecessary. All I see is people who are envious about someone else’s success. By the way, gear your anger and frustrations towards the editor who decided to write on what Mariah Carey does with her own money.

    Obnoxious screecher.

  • Centaur

You would think with that much money she would either have her own jet or hire one to fly her… The article even said it would of been cheaper…

I agree with the comments everyone is saying on here about this not making any sense because it really doesn’t.

Hire or lease a jet if you don’t like being around the public.. Brain fart by Mariah I guess.

Hey, I happen to like Mariah Carey. If se wants to spend that on her travel, well God bless her that she can. It is HER money and she can do with it as she likes. As I said I’m a fan and I would love to see more of the TWINS and sure, hear them too.

  • Ninjanupe

Hmmm lets see….a Blue Star Jet (or any other private jet charter service) would cost LESS than this for her to travel privately, be pampered and “relax”, and she would not need to SELFISHLY deprive other paying individuals a first class spot on this flight. This is just ridiculous “Diva” BS for no reason other than being self centred.

  • Buddy guy

    Idiot !!

  • James Grey

Why does she still have money she hasn’t had a hit album or song in a almost 10 years…..and why does this count as Important news?
