On his show, Rush Limbaugh called a female Georgetown law student a “slut” and a “prostitute”. Sandra Fluke had been slated to speak at a Congressional hearing about the mandated contraception coverage debate. Fluke was denied a time slot to speak in. The hearing ended up only hearing from male speakers, leading to several congresswomen walking out of the hearing in protest. Fluke was later invited back to a second, Democrat-only, hearing. Her remarks made national news since Fluke’s college (Georgetown) is a Jesuit school and finds itself in the thick of the fight. She said that she felt politicians were playing political football with women’s health.

Rush aired his opinion about Fluke and her comments on his show.

“What does it say about the college coed Susan [sic] Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex? What does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex.

“She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? We’re the pimps.

“The johns, that’s right. We would be the johns — no! We’re not the johns. Well — yeah, that’s right. Pimp’s not the right word.

“So Miss Fluke, and the rest of you Feminazis, here’s the deal. If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex. We want something for it. We want you post the videos online so we can all watch.”

It is no surprise that a comment like that would bring out the liberal backlash on Twitter.

Some begged to differ.

Rush Limbaugh has absolutely nothing to apologize for. Period.(image) 2 hours ago via TweetDeck ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

But, the response did not stop with derision from the usual cast of characters. Legislators got into it. Nancy Pelosi has called on the Republican leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives to disavow Limbaugh’s remarks. That got a reaction too.

Why does Boehner have to disavow #Limbaugh? Was Obama asked to disavow Bill Maher for any of the vile things he called Sarah Palin?(image) 3 minutes ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

But, then came the advertisers. ProFlowers, a show sponsor, was beset with complaints and ended up replying to dozens of tweets.

Then came Sleep Train mattresses.

When confronted about some market buys of advertising that put its brand in commercials during Limbaugh’s program, the Lending Tree company was obliged to tell many customers:

A campaign was launched to bring pressure to bear against other advertisers who support Limbaugh’s program. That campaign listed several businesses. Some pulled their ads in response to Limbaugh’s remarks. The listing, in part, includes:

But then, the President chimed in.

Sandra Fluke told MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell that President Obama had called her personally.

“He encouraged me and supported me and thanked me for speaking out about the concerns of American women. And what was really personal for me was that he said to tell my parents that they should be proud. And that meant a lot because Rush Limbaugh questioned whether or not my family would be proud of me. So, I just appreciated that very much.”

Limbaugh has been under advertiser fire before. And, he’s still here. It all depends on how much flak advertisers can take before having to make a business decision to go elsewhere. The same tactic was used against Glenn Beck, and he eventually was let go from Fox.

Don’t laugh too hard, but Leftists actually think they’re going to get Limbaugh to shut up with a boycott. #okaylaughhard #tcot #p2(image) 5 hours ago via web ·  Reply ·  Retweet ·  Favorite · powered by @socialditto

Sandra Fluke, what about the best birth control you get free? Keep your pants up and no sex before marriage! Ask all the men you are going to have sex with to help pay for the birth control an carry condoms,or pay child support. Is sex the way you are going to pass law school, maybe thats the way you got into law school? Why cannt you be incontrol of yourself, get some morals.Stop being a pass around pack.

  • Bleau

All I hear is women, women, women…what about the MEN KEEPING IT IN THEIR PANTS????

    • Bleau

OH, and men who have the ‘snip’ done….what does that make them? That’s a form of contraception and insurance pays for that.

    • Elaine

You know birth control pills are not solely used for prevention of pregnancies. They are also used for women’s health issues. If you had listened to her testimony, you would have learned that her friend needed them to help with an ovarian cyst.

If men had to deal with pregnancies, then access to contraceptives would be enshrined as a constitutional amendment.

  • Verne Silver

    Dear Mr. Limbaugh,
A comment was once made regarding another matter to wit:”have you no decency?” In your case I think not! In fact, you have none now, you never have had, and I am pretty sure you never will.

  • Evie

Why is there this automatic assumption that a woman using birth control must be enjoying multiple partners out of wedlock? Married women use/require it, too, for the same darn reasons. To prevent unwanted pregnancies and to assist with several varying health complaints which are NOT primarily for contraception.

Do Republicans think that married women ought to be required to simply procreate endlessly from “I do” to menopause? Or will married men be taking on some of the responsibility and happily eschewing their marital bed to prevent unwanted children now? I guess we’ll see infidelity on the rise…

  • will

I think catholic churches should test all females members for contraceptive use and ban users from mass until they test clean. Next they will want to be priests, or god forbid, the pope himself. And maybe they should wear berkas and not be allowed to drive automobiles without a male driver.

  • Mj Carco

Rush Limbaugh, Rick Santorum and others of that ilk, condem President Obama, claim he is a Muslim and would support sharia Law. In fact, if you listen to the diatribe from Limbaugh, Santorum etc, their views in relation to women indicate that they are the ones whod, in fact, support Sharia Law while Obama’s behavior indicates that he clearly does not!

  • JC Denton En Da Fresh

God Bless Saudia Arabia, er…America, right. I almost forgot which country it was, getting wierder by the day.

  • Nita R. Wilson

First of all Limbaugh has no views on women or any females,it would be nice if he would wake one morning and be a female!!! Funny? You can’t make comments like that,Does he have any daughters,or a wife? I hope not if my husband made a remark like that I would Divorce him. This man has a Horrible child hood and a lousy upbringing, this is why he dioes not like his self.Probably don’t like women either.Or was he Birth by the DEVIL himself.Hell is waiting for him,
