Kendall Jenner loves her big sister Kim Kardashian. There's no question about that. However in the March issue of Allure magazine (Kendall Jenner is also the sexy cover model for this issue), she talks about why she didn't want Kim Kardashian at her first fashion show.
It's no secret that Kendall Jenner has tried to disassociate herself from Keeping Up With the Kardashians. She doesn't simply want to be known as that girl on the reality TV show. Her desire to become a fashion model prompted her to work hard and it won her a spot in last year's Marc Jacobs show.
"I didn't need it to be a family affair," she told Allure for its March cover story. "As selfish as this sounds, I wanted the attention to be on me for five seconds rather than my family."
"If they were sitting front row, it would have been all about, 'Oh, Kim goes to Kendall's first fashion show!'" Kendall Jenner continued.
You can't really blame Kendall. After all, Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West are constantly in the media--far more than sisters Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian or Kylie Jenner. Brothers Rob Kardashian, Brody Jenner, and Brandon Jenner hardly ever get any coverage. It's Kim and/or Kanye all the time. It was definitely Kendall's time to shine.
"I love Kim, but for a minute I wanted it to be like, 'OK, this is [Kendall's] thing—she's taking it seriously.'" she added.
The following Instagram post shows how brightly Kendall Jenner now shines. Even with Kim Kardashian present, everyone sees Kendall for her own merits these days.
"me and my lil monkey inside my @Allure_Magazine cover shoot. shot by @mariotestino," Kendall Jenner captioned her Instagram post.
Just because Kendall didn't want Kim Kardashian at her first fashion show doesn't mean she isn't appreciative of her sisterly advice from time to time.
"I have a really weird thing about 'forever.' And my sister Kim always said, 'Don't put a bumper sticker on a Bentley.'" she explains.
Certainly the Keeping Up With the Kardashians family is anything but typical, yet the thing with Kendall Jenner and Kim Kardashian isn't all that unusual. Most families have a star who shines a bit brighter than the rest. And all siblings need their moment in the spotlight.
Kendall Jenner will no doubt shine for a long time. Will her sparkle one day outshine Kim Kardashian's?
