Sunday night on “The Beatles: The Night That Changed America – A Grammy Salute,” celebrities and musicians alike gathered for an unforgettable evening. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr witnessed the lovely evening as well.

The tribute welcomed performances of classic Beatle’s hits from Dave Grohl, Annie Lennox and John Mayer.

However, the most unforgettable and mentioned performance of the evening went to Katy Perry for her version of, “Yesterday.”

Beatles fans weren’t too pleased with Perry’s rendition. The “Dark Horse” musician changed the word ‘man’ to ‘girl’ in the song causing quite an uproar.

YouTube users weren’t too pleased with one-word change.

One user said, “How dare she change the words!!!!!”

“omg get over yourself!.The only thing she changed was he to she or him to her. She’s not the first to do it to this song, ya jackass And in case ya didn’t notice, the Paul and Ringo both liked it,” another user replied.

This wasn’t the first time Perry had performed a Beatles song.

Do you think Perry shouldn’t have taken the liberty to change the lyrics? Were you fine with the song? Either way, leave your comments below.

Thousands of women have changed the pronouns. Hell, Frank Sinatra mangled the lyrics of nearly every song he recorded.

Cilla Black (who was produced by McCartney) released a "female" version of "Yesterday" in the 60's (with McCartney's blessing). The lyrics were changed in the same way that Katy Perry sang them. Nobody seemed to mind back then. Then again, back then we didn't have all the Twitter "twits" that we have today.

    I'm a huge Beatles fan & I loved Ms. Perry's performance.

Haters will always hate. All you need is LOVE !

I don't care that she changed a word, but I thought it sounded horrible…

Gosh! I can't believe people are so damn sensitive. So what if she 'altered' the lyrics, and come on, I love Katy Perry <3 but we all know she doesn't sound good live. If you wanted someone to sing that song really good, you should've gotten Celine Dion to sing that song, now fuck off and leave her alone.

Katy did a great job! How else could a woman sing this song – get real!
