When asked about the possible return of Katherine Heigl in the next season of Grey’s Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes, the series creator, immediately killed the hopes of the show’s followers when she gave a solid “No” to the idea.

Shonda, in an interview said, “I'm done with that story. I've turned that idea over in my mind a thousand times and thought about how it would go. And I don't think so."

Shonda was apparently not planning to include Heigl in any upcoming episodes of the ongoing series. The show creator confirmed that Izzi Stevens, Heigl’s character, will not appear in the show anymore according to TVLine on August 5 at the recently held ABC’s  Television Critics Association press party.

The Ugly Truth actress, Heigl exited the medical drama series in 2010 after issues of unprofessional attitude leaked. Shonda also talked about the issue last year in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter saying, "There are no Heigls in this situation." She was rather relieved that she would not have to put up with any bad attitudes on her show Scandal.

On the issue of her return to the show, Heigl, dismissed the rumors. The actress, despite the fact that she will not be returning in the coming season, said she still is thankful for becoming part of the series in the past years.

“It’s been this incredible thing,” Katherine Heigl declared. “It was just this incredible experience for me. It changed the course of my life and career and I couldn’t be more grateful. I just hope it goes for as long as they all want it to,” she told Entertainment Tonight.

The next season of Grey’s Anatomy will be airing September 24 on ABC.
