Jessica Lange To Return To “AHS” Post As Emmy Winner

Although Jessica Lange is already an Emmy-winning actress–she won in 2009 for the HBO movie “Grey Gardens”–she’ll be returning to “American Horror Story” this season with a statue she claimed from the first season, which saw her play the devilish Constance Langdon.

Perhaps because of the show’s unique plotline–the first season portrayed one family in a house, while the second season will be set in an asylum and will presumably not feature those characters–the show was labeled as a “miniseries” by the Emmys, and Lange took home a statue for Outstanding Supporting Actress in that category. She will return as Constance for the upcoming season, which debuts October 17th on FX.

As the mother of both a ghost and a mentally handicapped young woman, Constance’s past was a recurring theme on the show, linking her to the haunted house which was the centerpiece of the story as well as to former and present occupants. Lange nailed the slightly mad Southern Belle with murderous tendencies and a skewed look on life, easily making her the star of a show which was supposedly about a troubled family. Fans are ecstatic that she’ll be returning for season 2.

    I’d have Jessica Lange’s baby in a heartbeat – that’s just how freaking amazing she is as Constance! And she won her Emmy too!

    Someone didn’t do their research. Jessica Lange will NOT be playing Constance in the new AHS: Asylum….it is entirely different than last year and she will be playing Sister Jude.

    Jessica is NOT playing Constance in the second season. All the actors who are returning, including Jessica, are playing all new characters. This has been explained since the first season ended. This season has NOTHING to do with the first season. Oh, and Jessica Lange is the greatest actress off all time!
