If the latest rumors are to be believed, you’re going to be able to put your money down on Apple’s new iPhone on the same day that they unveil it to the public.

According to iMore, pre-orders for the iPhone 5 (new iPhone?) are set to kick off on September 12th.

If you remember, September 12th is the date that Apple has supposedly tapped to hold the big press event to launch their new smartphone. Although the rumored launch day was the 12th, it wasn’t a sure thing that Apple would also open up pre-orders on the same day. Last year, with the iPhone 4S, Apple introduced the new phone three days before they opened up pre-orders.

And of course, this isn’t a “sure thing” either. It’s a rumor, and as we know, the iPhone rumor mill is one of the most prolific ones around.

But if that date holds up, we’re looking at a September 21st release date for the new iPhone.

This pre-order rumor isn’t the only iPhone 5 rumor that’s floating around today. Chinese forums have claimed that this image is a leak of the device’s motherboard. If true, it would confirm LTE for the upcoming device.

We’ve heard a lot of rumors concerning the new specs on the device. If those rumors are accurate, this is what the iPhone 5 will probably look like:
