Rumors about Idris Elba taking the role of James Bond are making the rounds again online after being snubbed for his critically-acclaimed performance on Netflix’s Beast of No Nation.

Like the undying 007 hero, talks about Elba playing the famous fictional agent are not going to die soon.

Elba previously dismissed the Bond casting rumors last year; however, the rumor is not just swirling among fans, but the higher-ups in Hollywood are also talking about it.

“If human beings want to know if there’s any connectivity between all of us, the one thing I’ve heard around the world universally is that, ‘You’ll be great at James Bond!’” he said last year when he addressed the Bond casting rumors.

A huge “power movie exec” has allegedly shown interest over the prospect of casting the British actor for the said role.

The said bigwig reportedly shared with The New York Post their thoughts about Idris Elba as James Bond: “Is the world ready? I think so.”

The news came at the height of the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. Many thought that Elba would be considered for a Best Actor award for his remarkable performance as a charismatic African guerilla group leader in Beast of No Nation. However, he and other black actors were snubbed by the Academy, since there were zero non-white nominees this year.

Still, more and more people are hoping to see Idris Elba portray James Bond in the near future especially after the trailer for Bastille Day showed him in some Bond-like action scenes. The trailer has just been released and fans are convinced that he can do justice to the iconic character.
