Hollie Cavanagh, 18 year-old singer and “American Idol” hopeful, was eliminated on last night’s episode of the popular American television program. After belting out her rendition of Bonnie Raitt‘s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” — a song that was a bit more relevant than she’d probably like to admit — the judges descended upon the singer, declaring that Cavanagh “didn’t feel” her own performance.

“Each week, I was surprised,” Cavanagh told USA Today regarding the elimination. “I just kept pushing myself. Each week that I got through, I was just like, ‘OK, I need to step it up even more next week.’ That was my mindset each week I got through.”

Although she was eliminated before reaching the Top 3, the younger singer still has much to be proud of. During season 10, Cavanagh didn’t even make it into the top 24 despite the fact that the judges seemed to admire her voice. Unfortunately, they felt she didn’t have any sort of emotional connection to the songs she was singing, a nagging problem that continued to pop up again and again this season.

Hollie’s fans, which refer to themselves as “Holliepops”, were understandably saddened by her departure from the competition. Their reactions to the unfortunate news, as well as a few snarky comments for good measure, have been carefully embedded below.

America the ignorant did it again. They eliminated Hollie, one of the most powerful voices on the show over the no talent Phillip. While Hollie nailed every song she did Phillip destroys every song he does. He has no power in his voice & he moves around like he’s some kind of star. I guarntee Hollie will be picked up by a recording label almost imediately. I’ll be glad when Phillip is finally gone next wendsday,& goes back to what ever barn yard he came from! Hollie will eventually be a star while Phillip will be the nobody that he is!GOOD RIDDENS!

Hollie’s voice is by far the best. I can listen to her music and understand the words and yes feel what she’s singing. Never made sense what the judges kept saying. Somehow they didn’t get it. I hope she will make many more recordings. She’s great. Like a Celine dion. Maybe more class than judges knew how to deal with since she didn’t scream like Jessica Sanchez. They are all talented. But her cd I would buy

Hollie Cavanagh is a Pro. She had so much grace when she was on Idol..
I don’t know what the judges really want on Idol, I didn’t agree with their comments. Can’t wait for her CD to come out. You are the best Hollie!!!
