A couple months ago, Pinterest announced the launch of its new Developers Platform, a suite of APIs for building apps and integrations with the service. This was the first time the company opened up API access for development of consumer apps. It began with a beta program for developers in the U.S. who signed up.

Pinterest just announced the first round of integrations built on the platform, which come from IFTTT and Polyvore.

"In the few months since announcing the platform, we’ve had great responses from developers and moved fast to launch these first few experiences," a spokesperson for Pinterest tells WebProNews. "As we roll out the Platform, we’re working with developers to leverage Pinterest APIs to help people do more with their Pins online and off."

IFTTT's integration comes in the form of a Pinterest Channel, which lets pinners connect their account to hundreds of products and devices. You can automatically save pins to a board from actions in other apps, such as liking Instagram photos, upvoting reddit posts, or favoriting Etsy items.

The company says there are over 20 Recipes to choose from and the integration is immediately available on desktop, iOS, and Android.

With Polyvore, you can pin fashion, beauty, and home decor collections as you create sets. This is available on iOS and desktop for now with Android support coming eventually. Pinterest says early tests show this integration has led to increased shares to Pinterest boards by 132%.

Pinterest also launched a new Developers site where you can view documentation.

"New SDKs are also available and well documented, with Pin It button functionality, support for JS and OAuth. The sign-up-for-access form now lives on the new site," the spokesperson says.

More integrations and apps will be launching in the coming weeks and months.
