Following the trend of everything else in Hollywood these days, we're now slated for two Hercules movies in 2014. One is a big budget film starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and the other is Hercules: The Legend Begins starring a guy from Twilight. Unfortunately we'll be talking about the latter of the two.
Hercules: The Legend Begins stars Kellan Lutz as the Greek demigod and was directed by Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2). The film seems to be an ultra-stylized, 300-ish, re-imaging of the classic story. You can check out the three-minute long preview for yourself below:
You can read the films official synopsis below:
"In Ancient Greece 1200 B.C., a queen succumbs to the lust of Zeus to bear a son promised to overthrow the tyrannical rule of the king and restore peace to a land in hardship. But this prince, Hercules, knows nothing of his real identity or his destiny. He desires only one thing: the love of Hebe, Princess of Crete, who has been promised to his own brother. When Hercules learns of his greater purpose, he must choose: to flee with his true love or to fulfill his destiny and become the true hero of his time. The story behind one of the greatest myths is revealed in this action-packed epic -- a tale of love, sacrifice and the strength of the human spirit."
Hercules: The Legend Begins is slated to hit theaters sometime in 2014, though it's likely to not see a wide-release.
