Far Cry 3 Release Date Pushed Back to December

Ubisoft announced today that the release of Far Cry 3 will be delayed until December 4 in the U.S. The title will be released in Europe on November 29. These dates are for all versions of the title, including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

“We’re taking more time to create the best possible gameplay experience,” said Dan Hay, producer at Ubisoft. “Far Cry 3 is a huge offering and we want every element of this insane, action-packed adventure to be of the highest possible quality for the players.”

With this announcement, Ubisoft joins much of the gaming industry in delaying a highly anticipated title. Take-Two Interactive earlier this year kicked off the great delay party of 2012 by announcing BioShock Infinite‘s delay to February 2013. Not wanting to be left out, Square-Enix didn’t wait a week before delaying the reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise to next year. Sega then jumped on the bandwagon, delaying Aliens: Colonial Marines until February 2013. Most recently, THQ cancelled a planned expansion of Saints Row: The Third in order to place the content into a new Saints Row game that is currently scheduled for a 2013 release.

So, things could be worse. December 4 isn’t February 2013, and it isn’t the mystical promise of “sometime” in 2013. The Far Cry 3 footage shown at E3 was impressive and the game should sell well this Holiday season, assuming it isn’t delayed any further, of course.

I have a feeling they are pushing the game back to work on the multiplayer. since it got negative reviews durring E3. Sucks because i dont give a rats ass about the multiplayer. but since alot of people only buy fps’s for the multiplayer its a smart move by Ubi. Least i have been saving up my cash since this year has more or less sucked game release whise.

I think it’ll be worth the wait, december 4th isnt as bad as waiting till sometime in 2013, I dont see a point of complaing, there delaying it so they have more time to make the game even better than you think it is so ill give them props for their hard work and actually taking into concideration of making this game even more extremely enjoyable.

It’s just not good enough, these companies make millions, a lot more than the movies, it should not be taking this long to make it, there are thousands of out of work game artist, programmers etc. who could be working on titles such as this, and at low rates of pay, happy to have a job.
They never have enough people working on these types of games to give the customer what they really want, no delays! It better not disappoint when it comes out, the map community is what really matters it’s what made Farcry2 shine, who cares about a silly story and single player mode, skip the cut scenes, blah blah blah! play once and move on to multiplayer

  Sorry to burst your bubble, but the bottom line your talking about is money! These companies dont built these games for free.
  Here the catch,the better they build them, the more money they will make.The “silly story line’ you talk about, IS part of the game. A bad story line can make or break a game. Oh, and BTW, not ALL gamers like multiplayer.

*&#damnit! Not again! I preordered Far Cry 3,which they’ve kept on and kept on pushing back the release date for,and was told that finally it was coming out September 4,and here’s another 3 month wait! And if it’s because of multiplayer,I too don’t give a rat’s ass about multiplayer. People on multiplayer take that s*** way too seriously,and that,for me,takes away from what the game is for…to have FUN,not badmouth each other over the microphones and websites.
