Chris Christie: White House Hopes Ruined By Controversy?

One has to give some credit to Chris Christie. Despite being in the midst of a major scandal, he does not see it as something that could hamper his presidential ambitions.

He did retreat for a spell over the George Washington Bridge lane-closure scandal, but now the New Jersey governor seems ready to bounce back onto the national stage.

But how effectively can he do so? Even if one does not factor in potential Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton, there are others within the Republican party who may present stronger options for voters.

Some expect former Florida governor Jeb Bush to get the final nod over Christie. Unfortunately for Bush, not everyone has as short a memory as certain GOP voters.

A terrible presidency tied to George W. Bush and controversies surrounding his state’s handling of the Florida votes that helped get his brother elected may make many voters avoid Jeb Bush like the plague.

After all, what’s one bridge versus a presidential election controversy?

The corruption scandals at the doorstep of the entire Republican Party does not look good for 2016.

Christie’s style of governing has been disliked by Democrats and Republicans alike. Christie is viewed as a bully who gets things done with threats and “inconveniences”. While that may (or may not) suit a state like New Jersey, you can’t bully everyone as president.

Push the wrong person or nation’s buttons and we could find ourselves in the midst of an international catastrophe.

He shouldn’t count on his fellow GOP members to stand with him as things move towards the presidential election season.

The controversy surrounding Christie will allow presidential rivals a chance to one up him and openly suggest he is corrupt and will be a corrupt president.

Christie must prove that there’s more to him than tough talk and “brute force politics”. Before that, he must successfully weather the bridge scandal.

    Here’s a silly ditty,
You can sing it right away
Now, here is what you say
So sing it while you may

    Here’s a silly jingle,
You can sing it night or noon
Here’s the words, that’s all you need
‘Cause I just sang the tune:

Oh, I don’t want him, you can have him
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat for me

I don’t want him, you can have him,
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat
    He’s too fat
    He’s too fat for me

    I get dizzy
    I get numbo
    Watching him dance
    Cause he’s a Jum-Jum-Jumbo

I don’t want him, you can have him
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat for me

I don’t want him, you can have him
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat
    He’s too fat
    He’s too fat for me

Can he prance up a hill?
    No, no, no, no, no
    Can he dance a quadrille?
    No, no, no, no, no
Does he fit in your coupe?
    By himself he’s a group
    Could he possibly
    Sit upon your knee?
    No, no, no, no

I don’t want him, you can have him
    He’s too fat for me
And he’s too fat for me
But he’s just ain’t right for me

I don’t want him, you can have him
    He’s too fat for me
    Yeah, he’s too fat,
    Much too fat
But he’s just ain’t right for me

    He’s so charming
    And he’s so winning
    But it’s alarming
    When he goes in swimming

I don’t want him, you can have him
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat for me
But he’s just ain’t right for me

    He’s a twosome,
    He’s a foursome
    If he’d lose some
I would like him more some

I don’t want him, you can have him
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat for me

I don’t want him you can have him
    He’s too fat for me
    He’s too fat
    Much too fat
    He’s too fat for me
    Hey!

He should wait until 2020. By then, bridgegate will be completely forgotten.

    • Penny’sarcade

Maybe by then he’ll have kept some weight off. I will never vote for the man because I do think he knew about the happenings on the bridge, how could he not know? It will be Jeb Bush against Hillary in 2016; in 2020 (I won’t be alive then because I’m old) it will be Hillary (again) vs. God Knows Who in the GOP.

    • Jose Ortega

That’s if a heart attack doesn’t kill him first. That man needs to lose a lot of weight.

      • salvage2

I too believe he knew. In fact, I believe he greenlit the whole thing.

    • Do the right thing Christie

If he don’t fix what he allowed to get broken and just avoid and ignore, God will make sure he is ignored and forgotten.

  • Jose Ortega

Governor Christie is Presidential timber. He needs to lose weight for his own health and he will look more appealing to a younger health oriented America.

Lying sack of sheist plain and simple anyone who lives in the northeast knows what a nightmare the GW crossing is on a GOOD day this bloated liar knew full well what was going on there. If ten people laid down across the 405 freeway in L.A. it would raise eyebrows no??? Same thing here he made those people suffer then claimed not to know anything about it???? He had an appointment with the ground zero families on one of the mornings it was intentional gridlock do you think he sat in traffic for 4 hours to get to lower manhattan???? Heck no he took a chopper from NJ and probably flew right over the nightmare and DID NOTHING ABOUT IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let’s also remember that although they got lucky, this was a public safety issue and could have resulted in ambulances or fire rescue not being able to respond to an emergency that may have resulted in serious injury or death. As well, it’s really not about the bridge. It’s about his management and judgement, creating jobs for friends that never existed nor exist now, then labeling them as people with bad character. The list goes on and on as to what this has uncovered about the way Christie governs.

  • Larry Quadrato

Found innocent of any wrong doing he is now tainted and can’t be elected. How come the liberals can be proven as the liars they really are and still get elected?

    • salvage2

      Found innocent . Laughable.

      • Tony

He found himself innocent. Only in NJ hahaha

The Feds have been building the Norcross case for years. Christie gave Norcross everything and unleashed Norcross to destroy good people and use retribution to lose their jobs. Christie will have to deal with the karma that’s now on him. Lesson: watch who you abandon and cause to be unemployed. Ignoring this only makes it worse for Christie

    • eric

Maybe because although both parties lie, the right lies more.

    • eric

And who found him innocent? You mean his lawyer friends? The ones who he takes vacations with? The ones he handed documents and testimony to while denying the same info to the Feds? The ones who charged the taxpayers over a million dollars and the bill is still climbing? The only investigation most people care about is the Federal investigation which will most likely take months and months to finish. Until then, what we know is his administration is responsible for corruption, cronyism and intimidation.

  • hatelibrlmedia

Who is this liberal rag writer? She needs to go back to her job as a “Beach Hustler for braiding”. Christie was cleared of all wrongdoing! Frankly no one gives a damn about this bridge traffic jam! The people in this country are more concerned about the White House Benghazi lies and cover up of four murdered Americans.

    • Tony

Let that go. Bengazi is OLD news

Lets get the Violins it’s getting real old
      Time for Rico

    • SusanLee

You really ARE an idiot. Thanks for making it clear.

    • eric

Yes, there are plenty of people who “give a damn” not only about the bridge but Sandy, the type of administration Christie runs, his cronyism, his economic policies etc. It’s very odd that the people who scream Bengazi every day never mention or want to know more about the 13+ embassy attacks under Bush, the Iraq war or 9/11. These are the same people who don’t care that approx 1,000 people die every week from lack of ability to afford health care, or the millions of children and vets who don’t have adequate nutrition. We are talking about a Presidential candidate so yes, there is lots of interest as obviously you have or you wouldn’t be reading this article.

  • Do the right thing Christie

Lesson number one Christie – You lined yourself up with Norcross and Sweeney and you abandon your appointee. You let her suffer and be ridiculed and you never tried to help her find a job and get her pension back. You let them cyber harass her and ABUSE their power and you did nothing. A year later, your REAPING WHAT YOU SOWED. You continue to ignore her and not try to get her a job so now your facing a 800 million dollar shortage and guess what, more will come that is misery if you don’t fix what you allowed to get abused and broken by your political thug friends. Get her a job or reinstate her back before you wind up really embarrassing yourself.

    • Do the right thing Christie

God will bring you to your knees like he did PHARAOH, BELIEVE THAT.

It would be a horrible thing to see you turn out like Blagojevich

Don’t underestimate the power of God. As for your thug friends, the Feds have been investigating them for several years, and you best believe they have been building a case. The people are fed up with them and what you allowed to happen in South Jersey became your downfall for invading and ignoring a supporter. You did this to yourself. Don’t be stubborn and listen to your thug friends Norcross and Sweeney who have ruined your reputation and chances of ever being President.
