For those familiar with the fast-food chain Chick-Fil-A, it may not come as a shock to find that the owners of the business have very traditional values when it comes to marriage and relationships; for as long as the restaurants have been open, they have maintained a strict policy concerning Sunday hours (they’re closed) and are pretty open about the fact that the company is faith-based in the Christian religion.

However, when Dan Cathy recently admitted to being only in support of traditional marriage, his comments caused a huge wave of backlash against the company from the LGBT community and their supporters.

“Well, guilty as charged,” he said. “We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that…we know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles.”

Later, he said, “I think we are inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say ‘we know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage’ and I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude to think that we have the audacity to define what marriage is about.”

Several universities have protested the opening of restaurants on campus because of the company’s large donations to anti-gay organizations like Exodus International and the Marriage and Family Foundation, including Northeastern University.

Way to go Chick-Fil-A for standing up for moral values! I’ll continue to support you. And to all you HATERS of their position, just eat somewhere else. I think they’ll get along just fine without you. And if it weren’t for a traditional relationship between a man and a woman, you HATERS wouldn’t be eating anywhere!.

I will Eat Mor Chiken – I have always liked their products, the Christian music that plays in the establishments and the prompt friendly and courteous service. Also I greatly respect the position that the corporation takes and the fact that they will not compromise no matter what. Can’t argue with the success that they are having. Nothing like JC Penney’s current stance and their financials. Think SOMEONE is delivering a message??

In addition to his hatred, you have to think of the product. Chickens are bred to have extremely large breasts and die at 42 days old. Nearly 9 BILLION chickens are killed each year in the U.S. It may be just a chicken sandwich to you but to the chicken, it was his life. :(

The treatment of animals here is another topic. However, your comment about “hate” is frankly…ignorant. You’re trying to fan a flame that isn’t even an ember. By saying that you don’t want your parents/children/loved ones to do drugs or to steal, does that mean you HATE them? Of course not. He never said Gays are bad people/”I hate them”/are lessor in some form. He simply said he doesn’t approve of two same sex individuals being married. That’s all. YOU used the word “hate”. Want to end hate? Then DO! Stop using the word flipantly.

Well. let’s not eat chik-a-fil. Let’s eat Muslim food. Wait they don’t believe as I do either. Let’s eat Indian food. Oh, crap they worship all life, no burgers. Let’s eat Japanese food. Crap their Imperialists. Need to move to Greece. Crap that’s where it all went bad. Let’s live in America where we have freedom to believe in what we want. You talk of Christians being hypocites but what are you?? Are you brave enough to put your name and business on line to state your opinions? I doubt it. If you don’t like it don’t eat it. That’s your right that’s your freedom. That’s his too.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” A promise of Jesus Christ “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” The provision of Jesus Christ “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.” A promise of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ “…when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire [He will take] vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Another promise of the Holy Spirit of Jesus Christ.

I Love his statement Good for him! I agree all the way. Not everyone is alright with the gay lifestyle,& hate has nothing to do with his statement; So if you don’t like the statement eat at home. I love the food and I like this guy even more!

  • TexasLuisa

I love Chik-Fil-A and good for him for stating bible principles. He is only restating what the Bible states….so, those of you trying to cause a “backlash”…YOU beware! He has nothing to lose…but YOU do (read your Bible)..As for me, going there for lunch today…YUMMY!

I like how people always bring the Bible into these arguments. The Bible does not teach that gays should be hated. The Chick-Fil-A President did not say he hated gays.

    • susan

Your are correct on that one. No one should hate anybody. The BIBLE clearly states that a marriage is between a man and a women and I stand by what Mr. Cathy says. This country has become so leniant on Gay marriage and it’s not right. God loves them but he does not like what they do!! Read the BIBLE!!!

  • Misty

Saying you don’t support something is not discrimination for all of you professional victims out there! You know the ones, those who scream “it rained on me today because I’m (gay, black, an illegal alien, whatever minority you want to put in here)”. Hey morons, the man is entitled to his opinion, just as you are, the only difference is his opinion doesn’t make him look like a whiny crybaby! You scream that you want tolerance, but then when someone says something you don’t like you show no tolerance! Quote the bible all you want, this is one man’s opinion, and because you don’t like it you cry discrimination! How will his opinion hurt you? he said he doesn’t discriminate against gays in hiring, just that he doesn’t support gay marriage! SO WHAT!!! Grow up and act the way you want others to act, you want me to respect your rights to your own opinions so respect this man’s right to have his! You don’t have to like it or agree with it, but at least respect his right to have an opinion that is different from you! If you want everyone to have the same opinion then fine, let’s do that, let’s all have the same opinion as him! What? That isn’t fair? Well it’s just as fair to demand you have the same opinion as him as it is for you to demand that he have the same opinion as you! I don’t expect you whiny liberals to read or understand this, but maybe you will be able to understand the next line: GROW UP!

    • Leann

Amen Misty, go get em girl…..

  • susan

Please people. I was just at a chik-filet last week and it was so crowded there that there was an employee outside directing traffic for the drive thru. Let these people gripe all the want to and if they want to boycott them let them. I can guarantee that the business will not suffer from these people not buying their food and it’s obvious they not read their bibles!!!
