Former WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw turned herself over to police on Thursday night due to an arrest warrant being issued in her name. The basketballer allegedly instigated a violent incident involving a former teammate and fired a gun inside the other woman’s car.

While details are sketchy, Holdsclaw reportedly asked ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lacy if she could put some things in Lacy’s Range Rover. Lacy complied, but as she drove off she smelled gasoline and realized Holdsclaw had dumped it in the back of her vehicle. She also realized the Olympic gold medalist was following her, and when she pulled over at a friend’s house, Holdsclaw jumped out of her vehicle and began smashing the windows of the Range Rover before firing a gun inside. Police recovered a shell casing and say they believe she was trying to create an explosion by firing into the gasoline.

Holdsclaw is being held in an Atlanta jail on $10,000 bond; Lacy was unharmed. While she hasn’t commented yet on what may have happened to trigger the incident, she did thank friends and family for being supportive and assured everyone she is okay.

Holdsclaw, who says she has attempted suicide in the past, wrote a memoir after her basketball career ended in 2010 in which she talks about a longtime battle with depression.

well…this chick has gone from bad to worse. What a disappointment Charmique has turned out to be…not disappointed because of her short basketball career, but disappointed because of her personal life. From trying to kill urself to trying to kill someone else…sad…truly sad. I guess they may as well jail her and get her the help that she needs. However, $10K bail don’t sound that serious to me…so one has to wonder how serious this situation really is.

Only god can judge her not us!!!!

J: God did lay out as plan for us to judge one another when crimes have been committed. The often misquoted verse about getting “revenge”: “And eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth” is a rule for the courts, not personal vengeance!Under God’s rule, we are to judge one another by court actions.

I am truly sorry that Chamique seems to be so lost. I will put her in my prayers and have faith that God can turn her life around. Depression is a serious illness and people ought not judge until they have walked a mile in her shoes.
