Motor Trend Magazine’s ‘Car of the Year’ award goes to the 2014 Cadillac CTS. After much consideration and evaluation, car enthusiasts have concluded that the 2014 Corvette Stingray isn’t the only ‘automobile of the year,’ as Automobile Magazine reported. According to Motor Trend Magazine, the CTS is just as laudable where the declaration is concerned, winning for the second time in only six years. The Cadillac sedan also won in 2008.

Motor Trend’s automotive panel honed in on the performance quality of the CTS’s power-trains and balance, which creates the undeniably smooth ride the vehicle offers. However, the smooth ride doesn’t mean that the car is a push-over when it comes to speed and resilience. It still has that sport-like handle for those who have that ‘need for speed.’

The redesigned CTS edged ahead of 21 other automobile contenders to achieve the praiseworthy feat from the top industry magazine. CNN reports that the vehicles were taken to the Hyundai test grounds in a southwest California desert to undergo testing. The vehicles were judged on six areas of concentration: design advancement, engineering, efficiency, safety, value and performance.

Once the evaluation process was complete, the list of contenders was cut down to only seven vehicles. Among the finalists were the BMW 4-series, Corvette Stingray, Jaguar F-Type, Kia Forte, the Mazda 3 and 6 models, and the top-notch Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

After extensive research, Motor Trend noted that the CTS’s four-cylinder engine was its “most surprising” re-development, stating that it renders “class-leading power with competitive fuel economy.”

“The CTS’s intended function was to take the fight to BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi — and win. And it has,” said the magazine of the Cadillac.
