It has been quite a few years since pop icon Britney Spears has released any new hits; however, that does not mean she has taken herself out of the media spotlight. Since Spears’ last album Femme Fatale in 2011, she has kept herself in the public eye by joining the judging panel on the well-known reality/talent show The X Factor. Since her resignation from The X Factor earlier this year, Spears decided to continue focusing on her music.

This morning (Tuesday, September 17th, 2013), Britney Spears made various announcements during her interview on ABC’s Good Morning America. Spears’ first announcement was that she will be taking a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, NV. “I love Vegas,” Spears exclaimed, “The energy here is really, really good.”

Along with her residency announcement, Spears also discussed her upcoming tour “Britney: Piece of Me,” which will start December 27th. With this new tour, Spears states that it will include her greatest hits, along with new material to “keep it fresh.” During her interview, she confirmed that the tour will be an “action-packed performance hybrid, where club meets theatre.” Spears elaborated that she wants her concert environment to be like this so that the fans are “in the show with her.”

Spears also tweeted her announcement of her residency and tour on her Twitter account:

Good Morning America also asked for Spears’ reaction on the following topics:

  • If you could pick your favorite hit, what would it be? Spears’ answer to this question was “Toxic,” a hit from In The Zone (2003).
  • Her reaction to Miley Cyrus’ performance at the recent MTV Video Music Awards – Spears responded that “Anytime you do a performance that is ‘that memorable,’ you are going to have criticism.” Spears also stated that “She [Miley]‘s being herself.”

Concluding her interview with Good Morning America, Spears discussed her work on her latest and eighth studio album, along with the content behind her songs, including her recent breakup with Jason Trawick.
