Breastfeeding reality show: It was only a matter of time before someone thought this would be a good idea. With all the attention that Time magazine cover received following its publication, it kind of makes sense that someone is looking to milk the subject’s public appeal by transforming it into a weekly television program. Considering the show will be produced by the same company responsible for crafting such memorable and thought-provoking time-wasters as “Dance Moms” and “American Stuffers”, there’s no telling what the end result will look like. The only thing given at this point is that there will be boobies with children attached to them.

Details are still very sketchy at the moment — outside of the article over at the New York Post, very little about the forthcoming program is currently known — though I’m sure more will certainly come to light as production gets underway. Given America’s obsession with breasts in all of their splendor, there’s a very strong possibility that the show will enjoy an ample supply of popularity when it arrives on whichever cable network is brave enough to pick it up.

That said, is America ready for an entire show based around breastfeeding that isn’t sexualized in some ridiculous manner? Facebook, for example, has been yanking images of nursing children left and right, a fact which has angered some mothers to no end. Then again, some folks felt the need to start an online petition to get Sesame Street to reinstate their breastfeeding segments, so maybe there is a market for such content after all.

Although little is known about the project, the Post seems to think it will focus on mothers who readily admit to nursing their children well past their first birthday. If they’re looking for someone to get the show started on the right foot, maybe they can tap Mayim Bialik. Since she’s not above nursing her child on the New York subway, she seems to be the ideal candidate for the pilot episode. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

I think its ridicules,we dont do a reallity show about bottle feeding nor do we do a show about how these babies get here.Is nothing personal anymore I recently saw a picture of a celebrity who was pregnant and showed all but her pubic hair and the nipples on her breast .ok we know your expecting so why must you flaunt your body,I think its stupid, she probably wore more clothes when that child was conceived then she had on in the picture. What kind of an example are we setting for our young kids these days,no wonder girls are losing there virginity at 12 and 14 and sometimes even younger!!!!Whats this world coming to!!!!

Breastfeeding is a very private affair. Should be done in complete privacy. I don’t care to have it on my television. Yes its a human daily occurance, but so is use of the bathroom. That does not need to be public, either!

Donna Reed and Jane Wyatt must be turning over in their graves!

Breast feeding is fine but for crying out loud ONLY MEN would want to watch that on tv.
Do you realize thats all tv is about any more is woman naked orhalf naked. If you insist on putting garbage like naked women on tv TRY MAKING SHOWS THAT HAVE NAKED MEN ON IT. FAIR IS FAIR.

A reality show is stupid, I agree but breastfeeding is a “private affair”? So are you saying a baby should be fed a bottle in private as well? Breast is best and feeding a baby is not a private affair!!!

I am planning on creating a show about people turning oxigen into carbon dioxide. Anybody interested in watching?

If they’re going to make a reality show about women breastfeeding, then they should also make a reality show about men urinating. People say, “Breastfeeding is natural”, well, so is urinating. I definitely won’t be watching this show.

Okay, the fact that breastfeeding is even in the same sentance as “using the bathroom” is so offensive. Breasfeeding is NOT defecating nor urinating. Why are people so uptight about a naturally occuring bodily function? Grow up people. Everyone knows breast is best, but these types of disgusting attitutudes sure do make it hard for a new mother to feel comfortable in her decision to do it. “You should breastfeed because it’s best, but don’t even dare to do it in a public place because that’s disgusting” What kind if message is that? Please. You don’t want to see a woman breastfeed in public or on tv? Here’s an idea …. DON’T LOOK! Keep walking, turn the channel. It’s not that hard! She’s doing whats natural and what’s best for her baby, there is NOTHING wrong with that. The issue lies with yourself, not the mother, not the baby and not breastfeeding. Not to mention the many over sexualized images of breasts we are forced to look at everyday … but I’m sure no one has a problem with that, though right?
