Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriot who was arrested and charged with murder last year, reportedly attacked a fellow inmate at Bristol County House of Correction after the man harassed him.
"Hernandez recognized the other inmate and launched into an attack -- beating the other man up pretty badly," a source said.
Hernandez has been isolated from gen-pop while in prison but was walking down a hallway when the man taunted him and he reacted, according to TMZ. An internal investigation has been launched by prison officials, but there's no word on the other inmate's condition.
Hernandez has been behind bars since last summer, when the body of football player Odin Lloyd was found in an industrial complex not far from Hernandez's home. Police said they had quite a bit of evidence connecting the two men, including surveillance video and a cell phone that Hernandez attempted to destroy. As for a motive, they believe it might have had something to do with an altercation in a club. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the crime.
Hernandez was also linked to a 2012 double-homicide in Boston and was alleged to be behind the wheel of an SUV that pulled up alongside Safiro Teixeira Furtado and Daniel Jorge Correia de Abreu outside a club and fatally shot them.
