Gmail For Android Now Lets You Save To Google Drive

Google has launched an update to the Gmail app for Android, which adds a handful of features, including the ability to save attachments to Google Drive, which will enable you to save space on your phone or tablet.

“Instead of downloading attachments to your device which takes up valuable space, you can now save attachments directly to Google Drive,” Google wrote on the Gmail Google+ page. “Files saved to Drive are easily accessible from any smartphone, tablet or computer.”

The update also includes spam explanations, improved right-to-left support, and faster access to the side navigation menu.

At the top of every spam message, you’ll see a message telling you why the email ended up in the spam folder. These messages already appear on the desktop version of Gmail. An example of such a message would say:

Why is this message in Spam? It’s similar to messages that were detected by our spam filters.

Unfortunately, Gmail sends a lot of legitimate marketing emails that users opted in to receive to the spam folder.

“If you’re an English speaker, you’re used to reading sentences from left-to-right. But there are a lot of languages out there that are written from right-to-left (RTL), such as Arabic, Hebrew and Persian,” Google says. “If you’re a speaker of one of these languages, Gmail on Android now looks and feels the way you’d expect with profile pictures and the navigation menu on the right instead of the left.”

While reading messages, you can now swipe from the left edge (or right edge if you’re using one of the RTL languages) to access accounts, labels, settings, help, and the feedback option.

The update began rolling out on Monday.
