Yahoo Acquires Conference Call Company Rondee

By: Chris Crum - June 13, 2013

Yahoo has acquired conference call company Rondee, marking its second acquisition in a day’s time. As previously reported, Yahoo also acquired Ghostbird Software to roll into its Flickr property.

Yahoo will be shutting down Rondee as it folds the team into the company. Existing users can still sign in and create new calls until July 12th. Users can sign in and access data from past calls until August 12th.

“When we set out to build Rondee, we sought to help as many small businesses as possible become more productive,” Rondee says in a message on its homepage. “We’re excited to join Yahoo!’s Small Business team and continue with Yahoo!’s goal of helping small businesses succeed online.”

“We’ve appreciated your support,” Rondee tells customers. “To minimize the inconvenience to you, we have arranged for your Login ID and Rondee On Demand PINs to work with Instant Conference, a highly reputable conference calling service. Be sure to check your email for details.”

As reported earlier by TechCrunch, Rondee users have received emails about the acquisition.

The service is no longer open to new users.

Yahoo has been on an acquisition spree of late. Other recent pick-ups include: PlayerScale, Tumblr (which hasn’t actually closed yet), Milewise, GoPollGo, Astrid, and Loki Studios. The company is also said to be in the mix for Hulu.
